Today, we honor the birth of one of Africa’s greatest musical icons, Prince Nico Mbarga (April 8, 1950 – June 23, 1997). Born to a Cameroonian father and a Nigerian mother, and raised in both countries, Prince Nico Mbarga exemplified the beauty of cultural synergy in his music. His life and art were a blend of two rich worlds, seamlessly combining the rhythms of Nigeria and Cameroon to create infectious highlife tunes that resonate to this day.

Let’s talk about his legendary masterpiece, " 𝙎𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 ", released in 1976. This heartfelt tribute to mothers became an instant classic, celebrated across generations and continents. With over 13 million copies sold, " 𝙎𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 " remains the b𝐞s𝐭-𝐬e𝐥l𝐢n𝐠 𝐀f𝐫i𝐜a𝐧 𝐬o𝐧g o𝐟 𝐚l𝐥 𝐭i𝐦e.
