This Spring Festival, the Shexian Wangmantian Fish Lanterns “swam” all the way to the CMG Spring Festival Gala’s Hefei stage! And behind that dazzling appearance, a small group of people from a quiet in southern , were quietly holding it together from over 300 kilometers away~
Wang Jiashi and Wang Guoqing, two villagers from , were the lanterns’ guardians on this incredible journey. They led six other villagers skilled in the craft of making , watching over every rehearsal, every performance.
First came the transportation — the head, body, tail, and fins all had to be taken apart. Once they arrived in , they put everything back together, piece by piece. They were the lanterns’ personal keepers. And thanks to them, we got to witness the unique, poetic of the fish lanterns, glowing on the biggest stage of all!!!
