# 138 San Agustín 🇨🇴

🇨🇦 Humans are such unimaginative creatures... This, my friends, is clearly a prehistoric penguin, no matter what you say. You can find it in the archeological park of San Agustín together with some other very very old artifacts! Their meaning is unclear, so you can pretty much make up your own story. 🐧 🐧

In the area there's also an incredible view point, protected by the stern look of the Shakira (photo 6, not the one you're thinking about), as well as the narrowest point of the Magdalena River (photo 8), the main fluvial artery of the country. You could almost touch the other side, which is crazy considering how wide and powerful it usually is.

🇮🇹 Gli umani sono creature davvero prive di immaginazione... Questo, amicə, è chiaramente un pinguino preistorico. Si può trovare nel parco archeologico di San Agustín, insieme ad altri artefatti vecchiiiissimi! Il loro significato è non è chiaro, quindi ognunə può inventarsi la storia che preferisce.

Nella zona c'è anche un belvedere molto panoramico, protetto dallo sguardo severo della. Shakira (non quella a cui state pensando, v. foto 6) , oltre al punto più stretto del Río Magdalena, l'arteria fluviale principale di tutto il paese. Si riusciva quasi a toccare l' altra sponda, una cosa incredibile se si considera il fatto che è un fiume navigabile, ampio e impetuoso.

# 136 Juanchaco & Bahía Málaga 🇨🇴

🇮🇹 Buenaventura è il grande porto del Pacifico colombiano. Ha delle barchette piccole per le persone, delle barche un po' più grandi per le merci su corte distanze e delle navi gigantosamente immense che arrivano da ogni parte del mondo e fanno un sacco di rumore e di fumo e trasportano centinaia di container.

Noi abbiamo preso una barca piccola per andare a Juanchaco, sulla costa, a nuotare in un mare meno contaminato (anche se il turismo sta facendo i suoi bei danni anche lì), giocare con le cascate e cuocerci al sole per qualche giorno.

Ci hanno portato, senza il nostro permesso, a vedere le balene e, per quanto le balene siano sempre bellissime, qua i barcaroli non rispettano le distanze, infastidiscono e spaventano le balene e a me si è spezzato il cuore e volevo scendere, ma eravamo in mezzo al mare e, anche se io so nuotare meglio di qualunque umano, non mi hanno fatto scendere e volevo prendere tutt3 a morsi.

Il mare NON è uno zoo!!! Esistono regole per l'avvistamento responsabile, e come turisti potete scegliere tour che rispettino gli animali. 🌊💙

🇨🇦 Buenaventura is the main port on Colombia’s Pacific coast. It has little boats for people, slightly bigger ones for short-distance cargo, and these gigantically huge ships that come from all over the world, making tons of noise and smoke while carrying hundreds of containers.

We took a small boat to Juanchaco, along the coast, to swim in a less polluted sea (though tourism is doing plenty of damage there too), play around the waterfalls, and bake under the sun for a few days. They took us — without our permission — to see the whales and, as much as whales are always breathtaking, here the boatmen don’t respect the proper distances. They harass and scare the whales, and my heart just broke, and I wanted to get off the boat, but we were out at sea and, even though I can swim better than any human, they wouldn’t let me, and I just wanted to bite everyone. The ocean is NOT a zoo!!! There are rules for responsible whale watching, so pick your tours wisely. You have the power 🌊💙

# 135 Cali, Colombia 🇨🇴

🇮🇹 Cali è la città della salsa e dei gatti.
Un intero viale è dedicato alle statue di gatte artistiche e in piazza c'è una specie di tromba gigante e se ti ci metti sotto senti la canzone Cali Pachanguero strumento per strumento. Durante il festival della salsa, la città è strapienissima di gente che sa ballare sul serio: alcuni bipedi sanno muoversi decisamente meglio di altri.

Ho imparato ad amare la città quando sono stata alla COP16 sulla biodiversità, perché tutt3 parlavano di animali e ambiente e sostenibilità e avevamo un tavolino dove potevamo parlare di tartarughe marine con le persone e loro si fermavano ad ascoltare e a giocare! L'amore per il pianeta unisce e riempie di gioia, e non capisco perché l'umanità si ostini invece a distruggere e a fare guerre.

🇨🇦 Cali is the city of cats and salsa dancing. An entire avenue is dedicated to female cats and in one of the squares there is a giant trumpet under which you can hear the famous salsa song Cali Pachanguero, instrument by instrument. During the salsa festival, the city is filled to the brim with people who really know how to dance: some two-legged creatures can move way better than others, I discovered.

I learned to love this city when I went for COP16, that famous human conference about biodiversity, because everyone talked about animals, the environment and sustainability, and we had a little table in the street where we could talk to people about marine turtles and they stopped and listened! Our love for the planet unites us and brings us joy, I still don't understand why humanity would rather destroy and start wars instead.

# 132 Vetas & Páramo de Santurbán, Colombia

🇮🇹 A 3350 m di altitudine, Vetas è il comune più alto di tutta la Colombia, incrostato nella Cordillera Oriental dietro al páramo de Santurbán.

Il mio terzo páramo, un ecosistema super speciale che è prima fonte d'acqua potabile dell'intera nazione! In post precedenti trovi un sacco di informazioni sull'ecosistema più bello del mondo (dopo quello marino in ogni sua forma).

Vetas è un paesino piccolo e freddo, di lunga tradizione mineraria, e con un museo di cianfrusaglie quotidiane per lo più antiche nel cortile interno di una casa colonica, dove spicca un muro di bambole inquietanti che mi farà ve**re gli incubi. Non so come fanno i cuccioli d'uomo a giocare con cose del genere...

🇨🇦 With its 3350 m of altitude, Vetas is the highest town in Colombia, nestled in the Cordillera Oriental behind the Páramo de Santurbán.

My third páramo , an extra-special ecosystem that's the main water resource of the whole country. In previous posts, you'll find lots of info about the second most beautiful ecosystem in the world (after the ocean one in all its shapes and forms).

Vetas is a little cold town with a long mining history. One of the highlights for us was its local museum, full of mainly vintage stuff of all kinds in the courtyard of a colonial house. The wall filled with creepy dolls is going to give me nightmares for sure. I don't know how human cubs enjoy interacting with those things...
