🐘 La danta de montaña, también conocida como tapir andino, es el mamífero más grande de los bosques andinos y páramos de Colombia, Ecuador y el norte de Perú.
Es la especie de tapir más pequeña. Se caracteriza por su denso pelaje marrón negruzco que le ayuda a soportar el clima frío de montaña, y sus labios con un borde blanco distintivo.
Es Herviboro si conoce también cómo "jardinero del bosque" por su papel crucial en la dispersión de semillas y la regeneración del ecosistema.
Se encuentra en "Peligro de Extinción"
Las principales amenazas para su supervivencia son la pérdida y fragmentación de su hábitat debido a la colonización humana y la cacería ilegal' cómo también la casa por perros salvajes.

It is listed as "Endangered." The main threats to its survival are habitat loss and fragmentation due to human colonization and illegal hunting, as well as predation by feral dogs.
