Epic day starting with monkeys at breakfast and ending with a splash park. We started our morning with some snorkeling near an artificial reef that the resort has installed. We were lucky to see a hawksbill turtle - amazing! Then we took a boat to the gorgeous beach club and had lunch under the palm trees. We spent the afternoon at the splash park at Papagayo Park. This is a great spot for families with a big play structure and a couple of fun waterslides. Super fun day! Tomorrow we head to Samara Beach.

We made it to the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo. This gorgeous resort is located on the Papagayo Peninsula in northern Guanacaste. We spent some time at the pool today with the kids, then Matt and I walked the property to see what it had to offer. Tomorrow we’re planning to go snorkeling and check out the kids’ water park!

Today we did a sailing cruise with Kuna Vela Sailing out of Playas del Coco and had a blast! We saw a ton of marine life on the way to the snorkel spot, including turtles and dolphins. Conditions were good for snorkeling and we got to see angelfish, trumpet fish, pufferfish, and many more. The ride back in was more choppy but it was perfect weather for sailing and the crew raised the sails ⛵️ Awesome morning!
Tomorrow we’re off to the Papagayo Peninsula for a couple of nights.

Today was our first full day in Guanacaste! 🌴 This region is one of our favorite places to go when the kids are on school break because of all the gorgeous beaches. Today, Jenn and the kids went to a beautiful beach aptly named Playa Hermosa. It was a little cloudy (no surprise in rainy season) but luckily no rain. We checked out the tide pools on the northern end and saw some fish and cool creatures. At the same time, Matt was at a nearby adventure park ziplining, ATVing, and horseback riding through the jungle. He said the Superman Zipline was crazy - super fast and high up with amazing views.
Tomorrow we’re doing a sailing cruise. Stay tuned! ⛵️

Our family did a fun ATV tour in Jaco the other day with VISTA LOS SUEÑOS ADVENTURE PARK! We explored some muddy backroads to reach lookouts with scenic ocean views, then rode through the thick jungle to some gorgeous waterfalls. The kids had fun jumping in and exploring the swimming holes. We even saw a green and black poison dart frog at the waterfall. Highly recommended! Seeing these never gets old. This was a Yellow-throated Toucan. We also have Fiery-billed Aracaris where we live near Jaco. They come around to eat the bananas off our trees and are so fun to watch!

The new glass bridge at in Monteverde. So cool!
We’ve done a lot of hanging bridges since moving to Costa Rica but this one was really unique. With the glass, you get a whole new perspective, with panoramic views left and right plus below. A great way to take in the beautiful cloud forest 🤩

A tarantula!
This big guy casually crossed the trail right in front of us at Selvatura Park Monteverde today 🕷️Spiders are not for everyone but for us, it was a pretty cool wildlife sighting.
