Seeing these never gets old. This was a Yellow-throated Toucan. We also have Fiery-billed Aracaris where we live near Jaco. They come around to eat the bananas off our trees and are so fun to watch!

The new glass bridge at in Monteverde. So cool!
We’ve done a lot of hanging bridges since moving to Costa Rica but this one was really unique. With the glass, you get a whole new perspective, with panoramic views left and right plus below. A great way to take in the beautiful cloud forest 🤩

A tarantula!
This big guy casually crossed the trail right in front of us at Selvatura Park Monteverde today 🕷️Spiders are not for everyone but for us, it was a pretty cool wildlife sighting.

Lovely day walking the hanging bridges at Selvatura Park Monteverde. It was the perfect mix of clouds, sun, and mist that everyone wants on a visit to the cloud forest.

Today we explored Children's Eternal Rainforest and got to see a very special bird called the Three-wattled Bellbird. This bird is named after the 3 unique wattles that hang down from its beak. It also makes a distinct bell-like call that can be heard ringing all through the forest. We’ve only seen these from a distance so it was a real treat to see one fairly close. Big thanks to our guide Esteban who helped us spot it and took awesome pictures through his scope!
This reserve is a great spot with kids. The trail we went on was a pretty easy walk and they had a cute kids’ casita near the reception area with wildlife and environmental themes. Great spot for families!

Beautiful Monteverde! 🌳 💚
We’re spending a few days here in the mountains while the kids are on school break. Tomorrow we check out one of the cloud forest reserves with our favorite guide in town, Esteban. It will be a new one for us - somewhere we haven’t visited yet. Stay tuned!

Today we took a break from the office and hiked to a waterfall we’ve been meaning to check out. The trek to was tough but worth it. This was one of the biggest waterfalls we’ve seen in Costa Rica. It was gorgeous! We highly recommend it if you’re in the Jaco area and looking for a challenge. If you don’t want to hike, you can also reach the waterfall by horseback or ATV.

If you’re looking for something to do for a couple of hours in San Jose, we highly recommend the , which we checked out today. They have a gorgeous greenhouse with flowering plants and fruits that butterflies love. There’s also a trail that leads through the jungle to a river.
After the butterfly garden, we found an amazing local restaurant called . This cozy spot really felt like grandma’s kitchen and the food was delicious. We’ll definitely be back!
It was a fun trip but we’re looking forward to going back to our house on the central Pacific coast tomorrow. Thanks for following along!
