In the misty, humid cloud forests, the gemstone-bright plumage of a resplendent quetzal is hard to miss. The iconic birds, worshipped by the ancient Aztecs and Maya, are commonly sighted here between January and July, and it's well worth a little patience to see a male with its glimmering emerald and red feathers, and tufted head.

Hoy celebramos un nuevo símbolo de orgullo y unión comunitaria: las letras de bienvenida instaladas frente al mar Caribe 🌊💛💚❤️

Este colorido punto fotográfico representa la esencia de nuestra cultura afrocaribeña, nuestra diversidad y el amor por nuestra tierra.

Fue posible gracias al trabajo conjunto de la Asociación de Desarrollo Integral de Puerto Viejo (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral de Puerto Viejo de Talamanca), la Asociación ATACS (Atacs CR) y la Cámara de Turismo y Comercio del Caribe Sur. Y la colaboración de la Municipalidad de Talamanca (Municipalidad de Talamanca), los voluntarios de Puerto Viejo + Limpio y todos los comercios y ciudadanos que han puesto su grano de arena para que el proyecto saliera adelante.
