Butterfly season has seemingly come to its final stage. Nevertheless, having rather hot summer this year we can hope for aditional generations of Lesser Purple Emperor, Large Blue, Purple-edged Copper and others. The season could be possibly prolonged until October in Central Europe.

We came to Senne ponds in Eastern Slovakia at their best. Great variety and closeup views as usual. Highlights were Common Crane, Caspian Tern, Long-tailed Duck, Pygmy Cormorant, Bittern and Little Bittern, Bearded and Penduline Tit, Ferruginous Duck, Red-necked Grebe, Spoonbill, Purple and Night Heron, Little Crake, White-tailed and Imperial Eagle, Whiskered nd White-winged Tern, Little Gull, Osprey, Hobby, Little Stint, Avocet and Black-winged Stilt.

Lake Kerkini was great once again. So different from previous years. We witnessed ice on the lake (first time since 2001) that luckily melted in the right time.

Kerkini bylo opět skvělé. Když jsme přijeli, skoro celé jezero bylo zamrzlé (poprvé od roku 2001), ale naštěstí led roztál v pravý čas.

Spring birding tours are over for us. Quite a few birds are already difficult to see this season although some like this Firecrest are still showing well.

Jarní ptačí túry jsou pryč. Králíčci ohniví a pár dalších sice pořád krásně zpívají, ale na hodně lesních druhů je to už docela pozdní datum.
