ed paths and work out own safari routes, away from the masses. We rely only on our exceptional well-trained eyes and not on the radio to produce commercial sightings. We will take you to ecological run and very down to earth little camps where the untamed wilderness is just a footstep across your door. Likewise, we do not believe in fancy decors, expensive chandeliers, AC cooled sumptuous rooms, elaborated gourmet meals and luxuriant bath tubes with a view. We really do not believe that out on a safari you will need any of this. What you need is a truly, authentic safari experience with only focus on the great wilderness around you. A pit fire, an ice-cold beer, healthy meals, a comfortable tent, a bucket shower and great veranda to spot the wildlife in front of you: This is the true luxury experience. Any ornament that distracts you of your main aim (be one with the nature) is superficial and dispensable. You are definitely not here to get into a luxuriant candle lit bath tube out of a decor magazine, haven’t you? But maybe you are here too to enjoy a strikingly beautiful sunset with a nice glass of wine. You do not need to go on a luxury safari for this. It can be done too in the mid-price range. What we need are foldable chairs in our car and a good filled in cooler fridge with some glasses. We add this and many more luxury touches to your safari –those that will set your safari apart from safaris in a similar price scale-. We don’t want to ruin the surprise!

Just beyond the south end of the Serengeti sits an unspoiled wildland, one that has a very remote feeling.

This expansive reserve is an exclusive-use reserve with no other tour operations. Therefore, it does not have large numbers of tourists on vehicles and it has no convoy traffic.

It is called MWIBA.

Each year during the Great Migration's calving season, hundreds or even thousands of wildebeests will give birth to their young within a few days of each other. At this time these newborns will take their first steps off onto the short-grass plains, being watched at all times by predators that roam the borders of the migration.

TURNING PLASTIC WASTE INTO ENERGY IN TANZANIA

If we were able to turn plastic waste into the answer to our environmental problems instead of one of the many causes of those same problems?

Students from the University of Dar es Salaam have created the Nishati Mix, a brand-new invention which will take both plastic waste & organic waste and convert it into clean & useful energy.

Nishati Mix converts plastic waste into liquid fuels to make electricity; as well as creating cooking gas through part of the Nishati Mix. This project aims to address not one but two major problems simultaneously (plastic pollution and limited energy) in developing countries.

Why do I find this type of project exciting? The main reason is because there is so much more to conservation than just protecting wildlife and ecosystems. There is the people. Education. Innovation. Finding creative solutions locally. And providing opportunities for young people to create their own vision of how to protect and improve their surroundings.

The next wave of conservationists won't necessarily be working in National Parks. Many will be engineers, students and entrepreneurs who come up with entirely new ideas on how to view/understand waste, energy & sustainable living.

TRACKING RED PANDAS IN THE EASTERN HIMALAYAS

We have a unique opportunity to join a specially designated group trip to the Red Panda Outpost in Jaubari, Nepal on 16-20 October 2026.

Over four nights and five days we will track through some of the thickest oak and bamboo forests in an attempt to find one of the rarest animals in the world: the red panda.

October is one of the best months to be in this section of the eastern Himalayas; the weather has cleared after the monsoon season, you get spectacular views over miles of mountains, temperatures are perfect for hiking and there is plenty of animal activity in the forest at this time.

Uganda Announces New Tariff Structure For The Year 2027

As from January 01, 2027; Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) shall implement a revised Conservation Tariff Structure.

Some of the most significant changes for International Visitors are:

Gorilla Habituation Experience: $1800.00 per visitor.
Permits for Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale National Park: $300.00 per visitor.
Chimpanzee Habituation Experience: $400.00 per visitor.
Permits for Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge: $200.00 per visitor.

In addition to these fees, UWA has implemented a Low Season Rate for April, May and November as follows:
Foreign Non-Residents may track gorillas for $600.00 and track chimps for $200.00 in those months.

Understanding The Leopards Of Chitabe

Years of patiently watching wildlife at Wilderness Chitabe in the Okavango Delta in Botswana has turned that single question into a long term research program.

By tracking individual leopards for many months, researchers and guides have discovered some of the secret ways of the secretive African predator, the leopard. Where do they go? How does territory size and shape vary? Which leopards associate with each other? How do mothers care for their cubs? And how do individual leopards adapt to life on this incredible landscape?

Each sighting adds to the puzzle.

Long term observations will provide insight into the personality traits of individual leopards, family dynamics, rivalries, survival strategies, behaviors and so much more than could ever be understood by observing individual leopards at random times.

It is a perfect example of how conservation through guiding and science can come together. It also demonstrates how simply taking a moment to notice the animals we see while traveling allows us to learn even more about the world around us.

Once you know who the leopard is, you can start learning its story.

The first total solar eclipse for mainland Europe since 1999 is visible from parts of Russia, Greenland, Iceland, and Spain.

On August 12, the sky over these countries will be the setting for something extraordinary: a total solar eclipse.

It will be visible in its entirety across much of northern Spain, while in other areas it will be partial. But wherever you are, it will be one of those moments that invite you to pause and look up.

And perhaps also to look within.

The eclipse will not be visible from the Southern Hemisphere. But that doesn't mean its effects won't be felt.

Eclipses have always been symbolically associated with change, endings, and new beginnings. Not so much to force decisions or intentions, but to observe what is shifting.

This eclipse also coincides with a new moon: a moment of darkness before the light returns.

Ask yourself what things still make sense and which ones are starting to fall by the wayside.

And when the eclipse ends, the show goes on.

Okavango delta flooding and it is amazing!

The okavango delta in botswana has been flooded after two consecutive rainy seasons. And that's precisely why the okavango delta is such an incredible place: no two years are the same.

When the water overflows from the floodplain onto the delta, new canals will be created and old ones closed off; many dirt roads will vanish as the water rises, while some of the small islands may change in shape and size. The wild life, meanwhile, will adjust to these changes in their habitat. Nature has a way of constantly rewriting the map.

However, your safari adventure here requires adaptability. With large private concession lands, experienced local guides/tracks, and 4 x 4 vehicles (or boats/mokoros/foot), you have a lot of flexibility to go where you want when the flooding occurs.

When some areas become impassable via land-based travel methods, other areas can become excellent places to take boating/mokoro safaris. As a result of the changed water levels, animals will begin to move differently than they did before and create new water routes into previously unexplored areas. All of which contributes to creating a totally new environment in the okavango delta.

That's how dynamic and unpredictable a wild experience can be – all within one of africa's best locations for viewing wildlife.

NEW IN KIDEPO: NAMONI

The last leg of the road from Kampala leads you into the wild lands of Africa's most untouched regions.

African wild dogs provide some of the most exciting – and perhaps difficult – photo opportunities in Africa. They are incredibly quick, unpredictable and always socializing with each other; therefore it usually takes a photographer quite a bit of time to react.

Some tips for capturing sharper, more dynamic images of wild dogs:

Wait for the ears. The large, round ears of wild dogs are one of their most distinguishable features. When both ears are pointing straight at you — this is an opportunity for a better portrait — press the shutter.

Use a fast shutter speed. Just prior to hunting, wild dogs will frequently strengthen family bonds by greeting each other and playing chase. A fast shutter speed (at least 1/2000th) will help you capture the motion of these moments.

Look for rim lighting. Their varied coat patterns, which include dark brown and black colors, may confuse the autofocus system of many cameras. On cloudy days, look for the brightest rim of light that is cast upon their fur. This strong contrast will assist your camera in rapidly focusing on them.

The key to successful photography of wild dogs is anticipating their behavior. Observe what they are doing, have your camera set accordingly and be prepared to take a picture before anything happens.
