Starting March 28, 2026, Royal Jordanian will officially launch flights from Hamburg to Amman, connecting Northern Germany directly with the vibrant capital of Jordan.

The new route will operate twice weekly — every Wednesday and Saturday, with a flight time of approximately 4.5 hours. This addition marks an exciting milestone for Hamburg Airport, expanding its international network to the Middle East.

SAS launches nonstop flights between Scandinavia and Seoul

On Friday, SAS Scandinavian Airlines inaugurated its first direct connection from Copenhagen to Seoul. The new route is served by a modern Airbus A350 and will operate four times weekly in autumn and three times weekly in winter.

Looking ahead, SAS plans to increase frequencies to six weekly flights by summer 2026, strengthening business and leisure ties between Northern Europe and South Korea.

New Route: Wizz Air connects Cologne/Bonn with Tirana

Starting December 16, 2025, Wizz Air will launch flights from Cologne/Bonn Airport to Tirana, the vibrant capital of Albania. The route will operate three times per week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays – with modern Airbus A321neo aircraft.

This marks the fourth new Eastern European destination added to Cologne/Bonn’s winter schedule, alongside Bucharest, Skopje, and Tuzla.

Air France has officially launched its new free high-speed Wi-Fi service, powered by Starlink’s global satellite network. Runway Maintenance at Hamburg Airport: 15–26 September 2025

Hamburg Airport will close runway 15/33 from 15 to 26 September for essential annual maintenance and safety checks.

During this 12-day period, all flights will depart and land via Niendorf and Langenhorn, instead of the usual directions over Norderstedt and Alsterdorf.

Planned works include:
✔️ Removal of rubber deposits in touchdown zones
✔️ Cleaning of drainage systems
✔️ Renewal of runway markings
✔️ Inspection of lighting and electrical systems

Lufthansa Welcomes First Boeing 787-9 with Allegris Cabin in Frankfurt

Lufthansa has officially received its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring the new Allegris cabin at Frankfurt Airport.

🔹 The aircraft will enter scheduled service in mid-October on the Frankfurt – Toronto route.
🔹 Up to nine more Dreamliners are expected to join the Frankfurt fleet by the end of 2025.
🔹 For now, the Business Class seats remain blocked pending certification, though the new Business Class suites are already available.

Boeing, the seat manufacturer, and regulatory authorities are working toward full certification by the end of this year. Lufthansa has ordered 29 Boeing 787-9s in total, as part of its plan to modernize its fleet with 78 long-haul aircraft equipped with Allegris cabins in the coming years.

With Allegris already in service from Munich since summer 2024, this marks a major step in Lufthansa’s premium travel experience strategy.

✈ Alaska Airlines Plans European Expansion in 2026

Alaska Airlines is set to broaden its international network from Seattle with two new long-haul routes to London Heathrow and Reykjavik planned for spring 2026, pending regulatory approvals.

🔹 London Heathrow – Daily, year-round service with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
🔹 Reykjavik – Seasonal summer service operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8

While exact launch dates are yet to be confirmed, schedules and booking options will be released this autumn once all approvals are secured.

In addition, Alaska Airlines will launch:

Seoul on 12 September 2025

Tokyo-Narita on 7 January 2026

Rome in spring 2026

By 2030, the airline aims to serve at least 12 intercontinental destinations from Seattle, supported by a long-haul fleet of up to 17 Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

From January 2026, Alaska’s Dreamliner fleet will feature a striking new livery inspired by the Northern Lights, blending midnight blue and emerald green tones.
