Wow, it's been almost 2 years since I last posted and so much has changed, so much has happened. Including a big move across the ocean which resulted in me having to part ways with loads of my crafting materials. I had several projects I was in the middle of, all at varying levels of completion with paint being finished on some of it. Now I couldn't ship the paint I'd been using and I won't find the same colors here so I'll be starting over with the painting. Also, I'm getting back on track with building this custom Old Republic Era Mando Armor. I'd started building it with Apoxy Sculpt back in Germany now that I've had to start over, I'm building first with E.V.A. Foam and I'll go from there afterwards.

It was suggested that I create some tutorials on how I do my work. Here's the first attempt. I'll be adding to this tutorial piece by piece. The helmet I am painting is the Mando Stalker from Nme Props.

Got 20 pounds of Sculpt in the mail so look for some progress on this soon! Currently working on a prop for a movie but as soon as that's done, I'll be all over this.

My design sketches have progressed further today. I have added bicept armor as well as the gauntlet/forearms and hand guards. The bicepts were a combined influence from the SWTOR in game armor with some touch of Shae Vizla. The forearm and hand guards were largely inspired/based on Shae Vizla's armor. Still much more to go but that's it for today.

I sketched out some more on the design. I've added a view of the back with integrated jetpack. The concept art doesn't allow much of a view of the jetpack but from what is visible, it appears to be very similar to a particular jetpack that made it into the game. I've based this design off of that jetpack with practicality in mind. I want the design to be compatible with a one piece mold for the back plate which includes the jetpack so there will be less material involved in the making and less assembly required for the customer.

I placed an order for 20lbs of Red Apoxy Sculpt straight from Aves today. Due to my location, it has to be shipped through an intermediary but I'm hoping it will arrive swiftly so I can begin the sculpting process. My intentions to create late crusader era Mando armor based on the SWTOR concept art has met with a surprising amount of interest and support. I want to thank you guys for sharing your thoughts with me. I hope to have more to share soon!

I sketched up an image in Photoshop that is based pretty much entirely from the Old Republic image I shared earlier. I will make further changes to it while still staying pretty much true to the original. I drew this up to get a better feel for how the pieces would fit together properly when worn by a cosplayer. I drew all the components on different layers so that I can view them in an "exploded" view and also make individual changes and redesigns to each piece. So far, it seems like it would be extremely feasible to build the armor for vac forming processes. The hose connector to chest piece isn't shown here.
I think another great thing about this armor is that the jetpack is integrated in the back plate. I'll get around to working up that piece next. Feedback always welcome you guys...

The first set of armor molds I'll be setting out to create will be based on the bounty hunter armor from the Old Republic era. My primary focus will be to sculpt a set of armor for females that will give them more options and look good on them. Should make the guys happy too since they can suit up their wives or girlfriends. I will make a separate chest mold so the guys will get a set too but it'll be the secondary goal.
You'll see my drawings and plans soon right here on Facebook

Hello everyone, greetings and thanks for stopping by. I am a fellow costumer like most of you are as well. There are many great artisans in our community that make it possible for Star Wars enthusiasts to suit up in armor in celebration of our favorite saga of all time. I will be joining them in offering more options, more fresh new armor/costume designs. Today marks the founding of Skyfyre Industries Armory. Please join me along the journey and chime in as you watch me build this project from the design phase all the way to fruition. I'll keep you all updated, share my designs/ideas, and ask for your feedback. To kick it all off and get this journey started, the first project will be a fresh design based on the bounty hunter armor of the Old Republic. Stay tuned for images and more!
