For everyone traveling through Frankfurt Airport this weekend, we have compiled some important information below. Due to the start of the Easter school holidays in Hesse and other German states, we are expecting busy terminals at FRA. While many are looking forward to a relaxing vacation, high travel volumes will require everyone’s patience. Please see the details below 👇:
- On the upcoming first holiday weekend (March 27-30), around 721,000 travelers will take off from FRA. As a result, we expect longer-than-usual waits at checkpoints.
- This is particularly true at border checkpoints for non-EU citizens, because, in addition to the large passenger volumes, new and stricter data capture requirements have been introduced by the European Union for holders of non-EU passports. ☝️
- Non-EU passengers who need to clear a border check should therefore arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flights depart.
- For trips that don’t involve a border check, we recommend that passengers who will be checking luggage to be in the terminal about 2.5 hours prior to departure, and EU citizens who are only taking hand luggage around 2 hours ahead of time.
As always, please also consider the regulations regarding luggage and liquids. This way, we can ensure smooth operations together! 🤝✈️
