Throwback Thursday - Sept. 2025
📍 London, England 🇬🇧🍽️

We continued our London adventures with our dear friend and "the world’s smallest chef," at Le Petit Chef! 👨‍🍳✨

Dinner at Le Petit Chef was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced — an immersive dining show where a tiny animated chef cooked right on our plates! 🍽️🎬 The kids started at their own table (feeling so grown up), then halfway through we switched — daddy–daughter date on one table, mommy–son (& Simon) time on the other. 💛

Moments like this are what worldschool life is all about — connection, laughter, and learning through shared experiences.

📍 Munich, Germany 🇩🇪 Adult Adventures 🍺🥨

Throwback to a few weeks ago - We’re finally catching up on our Europe posts! 🇩🇪✨
(Yes, we’re back in the States — boat show life took over for a bit ⛵️💙)

But we couldn’t skip this one… our adult Oktoberfest adventure in Munich! 🍻 From reconnecting with our SpaceX family to wrapping up the Alpine Space Ventures investors meeting, it was the perfect mix of business, friendship, and Bavarian fun. 🎶🥨

🎡 Oktoberfest… with kids?! Yep! 🎶✨
From lederhosen that still fit 👏 to spinning rides that made Gunner’s day 🚀 (Paige was too short this year), Oktoberfest is way more than beer tents. There’s a whole world of parades, rides, games, and family fun.

We’ve been waiting 2 years to come back—totally worth it. 💚

📍 Munich, Germany 🇩🇪

Oktoberfest isn’t just beer tents—it starts with a massive parade full of music, horse-drawn carriages, and traditional Bavarian outfits called lederhosen (for men/boys) and dirndls (for women/girls).

This year, you get watch the parade through Gunner’s eyes as he filmed most of this reel for himself! 🎥 Hearing the kids’ laughter and commentary while marching bands went by made the whole thing even more special.

It’s such a cool way to see Bavarian culture alive and well, passed down through generations.

🚢✨ How did we end up exploring Norway and Belgium? By taking our very first family cruise—on the Disney Fantasy out of England! 🇬🇧

We’re definitely a Disney family, but never thought we’d be a cruise family (after all, why cruise when you live on your own boat?). Still, we promised the kids we’d try it once… and surprise—we loved it! 🙌 From someone else handling meal planning (a dream!) to organized excursions and epic kids’ clubs, it was way better than expected.

Originally, we were headed to Scotland and Ireland, but a last-minute weather change rerouted us to Norway and Belgium instead. And honestly? We didn’t mind one bit. Going with the flow is part of this lifestyle—making lemonade out of lemons. 🍋 The only wild part? Sailing into winds over 60 mph on the last day! (Check out Gunner leaning into the wind 🌬️).

Will we cruise again? Yes—especially to colder places or destinations our own boat may never reach. Check out the full adventure and the ones yet to come on our page!

Belgium wouldn’t be Belgium without chocolate 🍫— and we got hands-on making some!

We also learned about a “new” kind of chocolate: ruby (or rose) chocolate. Naturally pink, fruity, and tangy, it’s made from ruby cocoa beans (no dyes added). Pretty wild to taste something that’s only been around since 2017!

Family favorites? Mom = milk, Dad = dark, Paige = white, and Gunner? He loves them all. 😅 And yes, white chocolate does count if it’s made with cocoa butter.

Another Worldschooling adventure in Norway led us to Vitenfabrikken (The Science Factory) in Sandnes — And wow, it did not disappoint! 🚀⚡️

Casey and Gunner built a rocket together (hello, SpaceX flashbacks), Gunner got to “play” with a Tesla coil (a kid played the Mario tune with the machine!), and Paige and I rode a bike with square wheels. Yep, square wheels! Turns out math and physics can be equal parts weird and wonderful.

What we love about places like this is how science comes alive—kids don’t just learn about it, they get to live it. That’s what Worldschooling is all about. 🌍✨

📍Olden, Norway 🇳🇴

We took a day trip from Olden to Bøyabreen Glacier in Fjærland to see our very first glacier in person last week—and wow, what an unforgettable experience! ❄️✨ Paige (aka Stitch on this day 🤣) wasn’t in the mood to pose, which explains the silly poses you’ll spot from her in the photos.

Worldschooling took us to Olden Glacier ❄️🌍—a breathtaking reminder of both nature’s beauty and its fragility.

At the Norway glacier museum, we learned how glaciers are like giant frozen rivers, slowly moving and shaping the land. But here’s the big takeaway: today, glaciers around the world are melting at an unprecedented rate because of rising global temperatures. 🌡️💧 In Norway alone, glaciers have shrunk dramatically over the past century, and scientists use these changes to measure the impacts of climate change. 🌱💧

For our family, this wasn’t just a sightseeing stop—it was a classroom without walls. Seeing a glacier up close, learning about sustainability, and exploring the Norwegian countryside all became part of our classroom. These are the moments that turn curiosity into understanding, and understanding into values we carry as a family. This is why we love worldschooling: lessons aren’t just read, they’re lived. 💙

Viking experience day in Haugesund, Norway. ⚔️🇧🇻

From history books to hands-on adventure—Norway brought the Viking Age to life for us.

At Viking Farm, we stepped into the world of the Norse—where everyday life was built on farming, craftsmanship, and community. Vikings weren’t just warriors; they were skilled traders, builders, and storytellers who shaped history across Europe and beyond.

This day in Norway gave us more than just breathtaking views; it gave us the chance to live a piece of the past together. Our kids got to walk on stilts (a Viking pastime!), try out swords and shields, and even pose for some AI fun to create epic Viking portraits. Learning history in this way makes it come alive—so much more than reading from a textbook. 📚🌍
