Are you feeling bored with the crowd? You want to find a new atmosphere away from city life? you can visit Masouleh. But what is that? and where is it located?

Masouleh is a village in the Sardar-e Jangal District, in Fuman County, Gilan Province, Iran. Although it has been written that the community was established around 10 AD, the province of Gilan has a long history. The first village of Masuleh was established around 1006 AD, 6 km northwest of the current city, and it is called Old-Masuleh (Kohneh Masuleh in Persian). People moved from Old-Masuleh to the current city because of pestilence and attacks from neighbouring communities.

Masuleh’s architecture is unique. The buildings have been built into the mountain and are interconnected. Courtyards and roofs both serve as pedestrian areas similar to streets. Masuleh does not allow any motor vehicles to enter, due to its unique layout. It is the only city in Iran with such a prohibition. However, the small streets and many stairs simply wouldn't make it possible for vehicles to enter.

But do you know the spectacular architecture of Masuleh is popularly known as "The yard of the building above is the roof of the building below".

Yellow clay coats the exterior of most buildings in Masuleh. This allows for better visibility in the fog.

Buildings are mostly two stories (1st floor and 'ground' floor) made of adobe, rods and bole. A small living room, big guest room, winter room, hall, WC and balcony are usually found in 1st floor. A cold closet, barn and stable are located on the floor below, which are connected to the upper floor by several narrow steps inside the building.

1. Chahkooh Canyon
Chahkuh valley, the beauty of the art of mountains and sea! Two valleys perpendicular to a depth of 100 meters and walls sometimes up to 20 meters, have a beautiful view of the volume, holes and natural sculptures that dazzle the eyes of any viewer.

2. Valley of Stars
Star Valley is probably the most famous natural places in Qeshm. To watch the sunset, especially at the end of the day you should visit. Giant rock formations create an extraordinary and unique landscape, they are the result of millions of years of erosion.

3. Portuguese Castle
The Portuguese castle, the beautiful island of Hormuz is one of the most spectacular views of southern Iran in the Persian Gulf. Hormoz Island with colored soil and more than 72 minerals in a beautiful and spectacular view in the southern region of Iran. These islands and the island of Qeshm were made available to the Portuguese people a few years ago, and one of the Iranian soldiers named "Sardar Imam Qoli Khan" liberated this island.

4. Namakdan Salt Cave
The cave itself is very amazing. The colorful salts were interesting although it is not possible to reach the depths of the cave and only a 10 minute walk is available.
