Common assumption: the blades will fold when reversing — and it has very little thrust.
But here’s the trick:
→ Hit full reverse for 2 seconds to open the blades.
→ Once open, they lock in position, giving you way more reverse thrust than you’d expect!
The geeky explanation:
The water pressure is nowhere near as strong as the centrifugal force created once the propeller starts spinning — keeping the blades firmly open and easily overcoming any pressure trying to close them.
So yes, a folding prop can reverse just fine.
