For adults activity...
Hard Rock Resort Punta Cana
Pros: really nice decorated rooms, nice day spas, 13 different pools, great service, nightlife on resort, world class casino
Cons: huge, lots of walking, food is okay at best, far distance between everything (suggest you rent a golf cart), semi expensive
Royalton Bavaro
Pros: newer resort, nice casino, swim up rooms, great for relaxing, not a lot of noise, great place to take the family, nice beach
Cons: food could be better, not enough entertainment, can be a little boring if you are just two

Best place to stay for kids or families....
great if you are on a budget...has it all: bowling alley, good food and themed restaurants (try the steak house), small water park, casino, nice beach
themed resort, nice rooms but can be expensive, water park for smaller kids
Honorable mention: great food, great animation team, bowling alley and Game Center, lots of small restaurants (but the better food is in the buffet area)
Best Party resorts...
best place to party with a group of friends, swim up rooms, good food, lots of day and night activities with a live deejay (and good animation team)
is also a great resort to party
Best budget resorts...
not one of my favorites but the Amber inside the resort has gotten a lot of good reviews
nice resort for adults but they need to get the property back up to par how it used to be, great service and great animation team, also has a water park and you have access to the other RIU resort pool area (where they throw big parties day and night)
