The mangroves of Saona Island are one of the most important ecosystems in the Caribbean 🌿

They protect the coastline from storms, prevent erosion and act as the nursery of the Caribbean Sea, where many baby marine animals grow.

This area is also a breeding ground for frigate birds, and we often see wildlife here including sea turtles, stingrays, and eagle rays.

For the past 10 days I’ve been comparing the forecast vs. reality in Bayahibe… and guess what?

The predictions change. Every. Single. Day.

If you’re coming to Punta Cana or Bayahibe… don’t panic when you see rain in the forecast ☔️😅

Most weather apps show rain almost every day — but in reality it’s usually:

🌤️ followed by sunshine
🌴 and great conditions for tours

Mano Juan…where time stands still ⌛️

Away from the hustle and bustle of tourism life in Bayahibe. Walking around in Mano Juan on Saona Island has a magical calming effect 💫

The men are out fishing, the children are playing, everyone is smiling, the colorful houses paint the picturesque picture of the perfect Caribbean island life 🏝️

We can often get carried away with our daily worries, walking around here just puts everything into perspective and feels like a welcoming reset.

Tiny warriors of the Dominican Republic’s shores 🌊🐢💚

These baby sea turtles are born here and will go on an incredible journey to far away seas only to return many years later, a symbol of hope for the preservation of our oceans 🏝️

Since the start of the project 14 years ago there has been a significant increase in the amount of sea turtles in the Caribbean Sea side of the Dominican Republic. Success!
