Today I’m celebrating my 12 year anniversary 🍾🎉
But first, let me run it back…and explain why this even matters, because honestly, who cares if you’re not my husband and I.
For the last few weeks, I was seeing a trend on tik tok, set to the tune of “Forever and Ever, Amen” by Randy Travis.
Q: “why do you keep taking your kids to Disney?”
A: “because you never take the same kid twice.”
…and cue the videos of kids growing older, babies aging in an instant, and time marching on without asking permission (and the emotional water works 😭)
So this week I was trying to convince my husband to book a future anniversary trip, and I jokingly slapped together this silly video between client consult calls and car pickup lines and sent it to him during his work day.
The jury is still out on whether my propaganda worked, but here’s why I share these photos with you from depths of my archives.
Because time stands still for no one. 12 years of my life gone by in a fleeting 16 second short form video, and yet, summarizing some of the most meaningful moments of my life— all spent at a cliche all inclusive resort in the Caribbean.
It’s a place where I started my marriage, celebrated countless anniversaries past, met lifelong friends, found out I was pregnant, found out I miscarried, sat tethered to a wall to pump for a baby back home, realized for me, corporate America ain’t it, and discovered where I was always meant to be.
And honestly, it’s the place where I feel most deeply connected to my spouse.
Because there’s no distractions, and there’s no noise. There’s no stress, and there’s no obligations. There’s no tiny body between us at night. Just two people feeling like kids again.
So, parents, if you’re two ships in the night, it’s probably time.
If you haven’t been away together since your honeymoon, it’s probably time.
If it’s your anniversary—and I don’t even mean a big one—it’s probably time.
We’re celebrating domestically (for now!😏) but parents, I encourage you to make this anniversary one for the books. And truthfully, I can’t think of a better place to do it than Sandals, a resort built for couples to feel like two young kids again.
When you’re ready to plan your all inclusive anniversary, I’m here to help. 💕🥂✈️
