Alambi is a family home-style guesthouse set in 250 hectares (625 acres) of mostly primary cloudforest at the foot of the Tandayapa Valley, famed among world birders. The guesthouse at Alambi was originally built by a ship´s captain as a family retirement residence. In 2004 Alambi was acquired by Fabian Luna who had worked in eco tourism for several years. The visitors and the experiences they sha

red with him, inspired Fabian to preserve the forest and promote its conservation. Fabian felt the importance of sharing this piece of land with other people, then the house was refurbished to receive guests. He put some hummingbird feeders which within weeks started to receive visitors. The perfect climate, intact primary forest, attractive gardens by the river and handy location spanning the main highway, made it perfect. Owners and all permanent staff at Alambi are local people who were born within a few kilometers of the reserve.
