The Step Pyramid of Saqqara

King Djoser’s Step Pyramid at Saqqara is the first pyramid in Egyptian history, built by the brilliant architect Imhotep during the Third Dynasty, more than 4,600 years ago. The pyramid consists of six stepped levels and marked the beginning of the architectural evolution that later led to the great pyramids of Giza.

The Cobra represented the goddess Wadjet, the goddess of protection, depicted as a female cobra.

A statue of King Ramses II, dating back to the 19th Dynasty of the New Kingdom, was discovered in 1821 in Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt. The statue was found lying face down and remained at the site for many years. Today, it is preserved in the open-air museum at Mit Rahina, near the ancient city of Memphis.

The 19th Dynasty was one of the most important dynasties of the New Kingdom, with Thebes, present-day Luxor, serving as an important royal and religious center.
