The Abu Simbel Temple is one of the greatest pharaonic temples, built by King Ramses II in the 13th century BC. It consists of two rock-cut temples: the Great Temple for Ramses II and the Small Temple for his wife, Nefertari. The temple is famous for a unique phenomenon that occurs twice a year, when the sun's rays shine directly onto the face of the statue of Ramses within the Holy of Holies. It was completely relocated in the 1960s to protect it from submersion following the construction of the High Dam.❤🇪🇬
