✨ What if Egypt was a Ghibli film?

Imagine a sleepy Cairo alley bathed in golden light, where a koshari cart whistles steam like a gentle bus…

Or a felucca gliding across the Nile, guided by a local guide in a galabeya, on a mission to deliver ancient secrets to Luxor at sunset.
Now picture Aswan’s Nubian houses painted in pastel magic, with swirling sand spirits dancing in the background.

This isn’t just a dream—it’s Egypt through a Ghibli lens: whimsical, soul-stirring, and full of stories waiting to unfold.

Because Egypt isn’t just a destination. It’s a world of wonder, waiting to be animated.

Would you watch this movie? Or better yet… come live it? DM us to make this a reality.

🍪✨ Kahk El Eid: A cookie with a 1,000-year legacy

Before it filled our homes with powdered sugar and sweet nostalgia, Kahk was already a cultural icon. From the hands of ancient Egyptian priests to the royal ovens of Fatimid palaces, this festive treat has been baked into our history—literally.

📜 In Pharaonic temples, Kahk was shaped with sacred designs and offered to the gods.

👑 The Fatimid caliphs took it next-level, gifting it to the people—sometimes with gold coins hidden inside!
🫶 And today? It’s still the star of every Eid morning. Homemade or store-bought, filled with agameya, walnuts, or dates—Kahk is a taste of togetherness.

Eid isn’t complete without it. And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.

🫖 Tea, Kahk, and centuries of tradition in every bite.

Wishing our Coptic and Orthodox friends around the world a joyous and Merry Christmas!

On January 7th, Coptic Orthodox Christians, constituting 90% of Egypt’s Christian population, joyfully break their 43-day fast to celebrate Christmas. This special day comes almost two weeks after Western denominations, following the Orthodox calendar. Over 10 million Christians in Egypt, predominantly Orthodox Copts, mark the birth of Jesus Christ on Jan. 7 – a unique celebration deeply embedded in tradition.

Children eagerly await Baba Noel (Father Christmas), Copts’ version of Santa Claus, who is said to find his way through windows, leaving gifts in exchange for the Egyptian treat “Kahk.”

In preparation, Coptic Christians observe a 43-day fast, abstaining from animal products, starting Nov. 25. The month before Christmas, called Kiahk, is marked by special songs of praise on Saturday evenings, playing a significant role in their festive preparation.
After the Christmas service on Jan. 7, Copts break their fast with a feast of meat, indulging in a favorite dish called “fatta” – a blend of rice, bread, and boiled lamb or beef. Swipe left to see this celebratory dish – captured by .

Forget countdowns—Ancient Egyptians rang in the New Year with stars, celebrations, and the life-giving Nile! 🌊

During the Wepet-Renpet Festival, or “The Opening of the Year,” they watched for the return of Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. Its appearance marked the start of the annual flooding of the Nile, a vital event that renewed the land with fertile soil and symbolized abundance and rebirth.

🎉 The festivities were anything but short-lived! Feasting, drinking, singing, and dancing carried on for days. At the same time, solemn rituals honored Osiris’ death and rebirth, echoing the themes of renewal and life’s cycles.

✨ From stargazing to celebrating, their New Year traditions remind us to embrace the cycles of life, renewal, and gratitude.

What’s your favorite way to ring in the New Year?

What do Ra and your Christmas tree🎄have in common?

Before Christmas trees became a holiday staple, Ancient Egyptians celebrated the winter solstice by decorating their homes with green palm rushes! 🌴 These evergreens symbolized life’s triumph over darkness and honored Ra, the sun god, who they believed grew weak in winter.

Fast-forward to 16th-century Germany, where decorating evergreens became a Christian tradition, and by the 1800s, Queen Victoria made it a global trend.

Next time you’re stringing up lights and ornaments, remember: your tree is part of a tradition that stretches across centuries—from sun gods to holiday cheer. Keep shining, because winter’s got nothing on your tree—or your spirit! ✨

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a month since we wrapped up an incredible 10 days together in Egypt. From exploring ancient wonders to bonding on a private cruise down the Nile, this trek was more than just a trip—it was a collection of unforgettable moments shared with amazing people.

Tailored exclusively for LBS MBAs, it was the perfect mix of culture, business, and, of course, some epic parties. But what truly made it special? The friendships and connections that formed along the way—memories we’ll be talking about for years.

Thank you to LBS MENA Club for trusting us to bring this adventure to life. One month later, we’re still smiling every time we think about it. Special thanks to Mark Toma!
