Archeology 101 is now live on the blog — simple, clear takes on Ancient Egypt. Not superficial, but not overly deep either — just enough to help you understand things without overcomplicating them.

I’d love to hear your thoughts — and if there’s a topic you’d like me to cover or anything you think could be improved.

Why do we -Egyptians- call our country ‘Umm El-Dunya’ — Mother of the World?
It’s more than pride. It’s the history that shaped civilizations, the warmth of hospitality, and the way this land embraces everyone who walks its streets.

It's FINALLY OFFICIAL..
The Grand Egyptian Museum's grand opening is FINALLY HAPPENING on July 3rd, 2025 (as confirmed to me personally by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, the CEO of the GEM)

To clarify, since October 2024, 12 new galleries have been in soft opening phase, besides the main hall, as of July 4th, 2025 -a day after the official opening-, two new galleries will open, the first one will house a total of 5500 artefacts belonging to King Tut, including his collection displayed at the Old Egyptian Museum in Tahrir -a.k.a. the Egyptian Museum of Antiquiries-, the second gallery will showcase the beautiful Sun-boats which used to be in Giza Plateau.

So, if you have been pushing your trip to Egypt until the GEM fully opens, it's about time to book your tickets NOW!

We couldn't contain our excitement for the Grand Egyptian Museum, therefore we had to pay a visit on the 2nd day of the opening of 12 new galleries..

For those in Egypt or coming soon, the Grand Egyptian Museum MUST be on your bucket list, as of yesterday -October 16th- 12 new galleries have been opened to the public.
The 12 galleries are divided into 3 per era, but is all dedicated to Ancient Egypt including Greco-Romans -King Tut's collection is still at the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities in Tahrir.

No photos, videos or even live footage can give it justice..
Our idea was to first enjoy it without worrying about taking photos then going back again to take photos and videos, but after 5 hours of walking, we were exhausted to go back (but we will go again real soon)..

You can book normal tickets or a guided tour in Arabic or English within specific slots, you can also buy normal tickets then if you decide to take a guided tour, you can ask if there is availability and pay the price difference.
Currently tickets can be purchased online or on the spot, and must be paid by credit/debit card.

Parking is available for a fee.
And it's open daily from 8:30am till 6:00pm, last admission is at 4:00pm
