Karnak temple is the largest temple in the world and the largest religious building ever made. It is located at Luxor city-Egypt. Karnak temple known as the temple of Amun, it was called Ipet-isu or “The most select of places” in the middle kingdom, also know as Pr-Imn or “House of Amon” and it dates back to 2055 BC to around 100 AD, it was built over 2000 years.

One famous aspect of Karnak, is the Hypostyle Hall in the Precinct of Amun-Re, a hall area of 50,000 sq ft (5,000 m2) with 134 massive columns arranged in 16 rows. 122 of these columns are 10 meters tall, and the other 12 are 21 meters tall with a diameter of over three meters.

The architraves on top of these columns are estimated to weigh 70 tons. These architraves may have been lifted to these heights using levers. This would be an extremely time-consuming process and also would require great balance to get to such great heights. A common alternative theory about how they were moved is that there were large ramps made of sand mud brick or stone and the stones were towed up the ramps. If they used stone for the ramps they would have been able to build the ramps with much less material. The top of the ramps presumably would have either wooden tracks or cobblestones for towing the megaliths.

Catacombs of Kom the Shoqafa

The catacombs of Kom the Shoqafa are situated on Bab el Molouk Street in Alexandria's Karmouz neighborhood (Egypt). His altorrelieve decorations show a mix of Egyptian and Greek-Roman artistic forms, and it is regarded as one of the city's most important archaeological sites.
This set of catacombs, dated in the 1900st and early 1900nd century, era of Roman domination, was discovered in 1900 by pure coincidence; a donkey walked through the area and sank its foot down the stairwell.
It seems likely that a private grave was originally turned into a public burial site with more than 300 slots for mummies.

Dr. Zahi Hawass Announces Discovery of 'Lost Golden City' in Luxor

The Egyptian mission under Dr. Zahi Hawass found the city that was lost under the sands and called: The Rise of Aten. The city is 3000 years old, dates to the reign of Amenhotep III, and continued to be used by Tutankhamun and Ay.

Many foreign missions searched for this city and never found it. We began our work searching for the mortuary temple of Tutankhamun because the temples of both Horemheb and Ay were found in this area’ Hawass said.

The Egyptian expedition was surprised to discover the largest city ever found in Egypt. Founded by one of the greatest rulers of Egypt, king Amenhotep III, the ninth king of the 18th dynasty who ruled Egypt from 1391 till 1353 B.C, this city was active during the great king’s co-regency with his son, the famous Amenhotep IV/Akhenaton.

It was the largest administrative and industrial settlement in the era of the Egyptian empire on the western bank of Luxor.

The city’s streets are flanked by houses, which some of their walls are up to 3 meters high,' Hawass continued, ‘we can reveal that the city extends to the west, all the way to the famous Deir el-Medina.'
