Five years ago today, Devo Monkie was 'publicly born' (thanks to Wayne Weedon for the domes). Devo Monkie was created as a birthday gift for Bob Mothersbaugh Sr. (aka General Boy) in September of 2012. Bob and I started playing Words With Friends (WWF) on May 4th (of all dates!) in 2011. He and I played over 2000 games in the 5 years - that's averaging over a game a day! It's amazing how strong of a bond we built through a computer screen as we only met in person twice - once in 2004 and again in 2015. Having played WWF every day for over 5 years, I still think of Bob every day - I still miss his sound advice, his 'virtual hugs' and his sense of humor. He was such a kind soul!!
Over the years, I posted many Devo Monkie pictures. So many that some people kidded me about posting too many 'silly Monkie fotos'. Few people knew that every Monkie picture I posted to FB, I emailed to Bob first. I was doing a lot traveling to finish my '50-50 goal'. I figured he would enjoy seeing photos from my travels and by adding in Devo Monkie as a travel mascot, he might get even more of a kick out it. One time I asked Bob if I was sending too many Monkie photos and his response was, "Keep them coming!"
I use to love posting pics to Devo Monkie's FB page. It was so ironic that FB locked me out on the day that Bob passed. It took me some time (I was very down plus I needed help from FB support) but I was eventually able to export all Monkie fotos (129 of them). So today, on the anniversary of Bob's birth and in the near future, I will start re-posting previous Monkie fotos from the previous/blocked account to Devo Monkie's new page (http://www.facebook.com/devomonkie). I will continue to take my travelling buddy, Devo Monkie, with me and post photos as I've had so much fun over the years taking photos and sending them to Bob. So today, while I still miss my scrabble buddy, I am so grateful for all the joy I experienced through his friendship
