How to Kick Faster in Freestyle 🦵💨
A fast kick keeps your body balanced, lifts your hips, and adds speed — but only when done correctly. Here’s how to improve your kicking technique:
1️⃣ Keep Your Legs Straight (But Not Stiff)
Your knees shouldn’t bend too much.
✔ Small knee bend = good
❌ Big bicycle kick = slows you down
Think: “Kick from your hips, not your knees.”
2️⃣ Point Your Toes
Pointed toes turn your feet into fins.
Flat feet = brakes 🚫
Pointed feet = speed booster ⚡
3️⃣ Use Small, Fast Kicks
Fast kicks work better than big kicks.
✔ 15–20 cm movement
✔ Quick tempo
✔ Continuous rhythm
4️⃣ Keep Your Hips High
High hips = powerful kicks
Low hips = drag and slow speed
Your kick should help keep your body flat on the water.
5️⃣ Stay Relaxed
Relaxed legs kick faster.
If your legs get stiff → you get slower.
6️⃣ Practice Vertical Kicking
Use deep water and kick in place:
✔ Hands out of the water
✔ Small fast kicks
✔ 20–30 seconds each round
This builds REAL kicking power.

Coach Tip 🏊♂️🔥
Speed comes from technique, not strength.
Fix your toe point and hip position — your kick will get instantly faster.
