“‘You still have 40 years of life…’

– sounds quite nice…, but..

‘You only have 40 more summers to experience in your life.’

– it makes you think.

Maybe you only have 40 times in your life to feel the summer warmth on your skin.
40 times to see the leaves change color in autumn.
40 times to feel the winter cold and the first spring rain.

Or less. Maybe 10. Maybe 5. Maybe… the last time is right now.

We live as if we were immortal. We postpone dreams, love, passion “for later.” But what if later never comes? What if this is already the last morning when you can smell coffee? The last day to tell someone you love them?

This is not pessimism. It is a brutal truth.

Don’t waste today. There may be no tomorrow.

Torrevieja is not slowing down. 🙂

At the end of January, the city presented the project for the new Alto de la Casilla Municipal Park - a space of over 30,000 m² set to become one of the largest and most important green investments in this part of the coast.

At this stage, it is an approved project with a budget of approximately €11.9 million and a planned construction period of eight months from the start of works. If the tender process and contract signing proceed as announced, construction could begin in May, with completion expected between late February and March 2027.

What is planned?

- over 500 trees and thousands of plants adapted to the local climate
- two large themed playground areas inspired by the lagoon and the city’s maritime heritage
- a viewpoint overlooking the Torrevieja Lagoon, La Mata Lagoon and the Mediterranean Sea
- picnic areas and shaded walking paths
- a café with capacity for around 170 people
- parking facilities and bicycle infrastructure

The project clearly reflects a direction: more greenery, more family-friendly spaces, more places for the community to gather. Over the past few years, Torrevieja has consistently invested in public infrastructure - not only in tourism, but in improving the everyday quality of life for its residents.

If completed as planned, Alto de la Casilla could become one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. 🙂

In yesterday’s post, a question came up: What is leche frita? And many of you answered correctly: fried milk! 😄

It’s a traditional dessert from northern Spain, often served during Lent and Easter. It’s made from milk, sugar, citrus peels, and cinnamon, which are cooked, then chilled, cut into cubes, coated in batter, and fried until golden.

Sounds strange? Maybe.
Does it taste good? Absolutely incredible!

I’m really curious what your favorite Spanish dessert is - be sure to let me know. Maybe I’ll get inspired too 😄

And for everyone who’s intrigued - I’m posting a tried-and-tested recipe for leche frita in the comments. If you feel like trying it at home - seriously, it’s worth it. 👇

If you live in Spain, you need to remember that from January 2026 the classic warning triangle will no longer be valid. It will be replaced by an emergency warning beacon. 😊

This is not a gadget - it’s mandatory vehicle equipment. The beacon is placed on the roof of the car without leaving the vehicle, and once activated it automatically sends your location to the DGT system.

👉 No beacon = a fine from €80 to €200
👉 Price? It depends on the model. The one shown in the photo cost around €35 at MediaMarkt.

Save and share - this will really be useful for many people. 😊

In Poland, Christmas simply isn’t complete without a Christmas tree. And in Spain? The holidays don’t exist without a belén - a Nativity scene. 😉

But a Spanish belén is much more than just a few figurines. It’s often an entire miniature town taking up half the living room: with a market, a bakery, shepherds, animals - everyday life from two thousand years ago, recreated with incredible attention to detail.

And here’s a fun twist: in Catalonia, there’s always a figurine called the caganer - depicting… a person doing their business. Seriously. 😉
It may sound shocking, but it’s actually a traditional symbol of luck, prosperity, and good fortune. Today, caganers can even represent celebrities, politicians, or fairy-tale characters. 😅

Tostada is a Spanish classic. Not just for breakfast. 😁

A piece of bread – most often a baguette or pan de pueblo (that is, proper rustic bread). Cut lengthwise and popped into a toaster or oven until it becomes crispy, warm, and golden.

What goes on top is up to you – although Spaniards have their favorite combinations:

• Tostada con tomate – with tomato, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. A timeless classic.
• Jamón serrano – with tomato and serrano ham. The Spanish breakfast Rolls-Royce.
• Queso – with cheese: manchego, goat’s cheese, processed – whatever your heart desires.

Add a café con leche or fresh orange juice – and you instantly have energy for several hours 😃
