Working remotely and traveling wherever you want sounds exciting. And honestly, sometimes it really is.

But what Instagram often doesn’t show are the logistics behind it: finding reliable wifi, planning around work deadlines, stressful travel days, working from different time zones, and constantly adjusting to new environments.

I’ve been working remotely for years now, from busy cities to quiet, very remote places, and even for a while from a sailboat in the Caribbean. One thing I’ve learned is this:

Freedom and flexibility usually come with trade-offs too.

Still, for me, the ability to build a lifestyle around travel and new experiences has absolutely been worth it.

If you’ve never experienced a mascletá before, here’s the important thing: it’s not really about watching fireworks. 💥🇪🇸

A mascletá is a Valencian tradition. It's a pyrotechnic show focused on rhythm, sound and vibration. The explosions are synchronized almost like music and you don’t just hear it… you feel it in your chest, your stomach, your entire body.

And it is loud!! 😆

They’re most famous during the Las Fallas festival in March, but special mascletas also happen throughout the year, so it’s worth checking what's going on in Valencia during your visit. You might be lucky and get to experience a mascleta as well!

Definitely not your average Sunday activity 😅

Why is Valencia becoming one of the most popular cities in Spain right now?

I’ve been living here for a while, and honestly… I get it.

It’s one of those places that’s easy to like as a visitor, but even easier to stay longer than planned.

You’ve got the beach and a beautiful old town, a huge park running through it, and a lifestyle that just feels… more relaxed. People take their time here. Long lunches, late dinners, and a lot of life happening outside.

Valencia has also become a favorite for digital nomads and remote workers, thanks to the weather, relative affordability and overall quality of life.
