Looking for a budget-friendly day out on the Costa Blanca? ☀️

Villajoyosa proves you don't need to spend lots of money to enjoy one of the prettiest towns in the area.

You can spend a whole day exploring colourful streets, historic landmarks, beautiful beaches and the harbour without spending a single euro.

My free Villajoyosa itinerary includes:

📍 Playa Centro
📍 The colourful seafront houses
📍 Villajoyosa Old Town
📍 Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción
📍 Playa del Paradís
📍 Villajoyosa Harbour
📍 Roman Tower of Sant Josep

⭐ Bonus: Visit the Valor Chocolate Museum for free on Sundays!

Villajoyosa is famous for its colourful fishermen's houses, but there's so much more to discover once you start exploring. The old town is full of character, the beaches are beautiful, and there are plenty of spots to simply sit and enjoy the Mediterranean views.

Have you visited Villajoyosa? If so, what's your favourite place there?

Most tourists visit Guardamar for the beaches and don't even know this place exists... 🏰

Perched above the town, Guardamar Castle offers some of the best views in the area, with panoramic views across the coastline, town, pine forests, dunes and surrounding countryside.

The castle dates all the way back to the 13th century and was built on a site that had already been occupied for centuries before that. Archaeological excavations have uncovered remains from different periods of history, revealing just how important Guardamar has been throughout the ages.

After years of restoration, visitors can now explore the castle grounds for free and enjoy a peaceful spot away from the busy beaches.

One of the things we love most about this place is how quiet it is. On both recent visits we've had the whole place to ourselves.

🎟 Free entry
🕒 Opening times vary by season, so it's worth checking before you visit.
📸 Bring your camera – the views are incredible!

If you're visiting Guardamar, this is one place we'd definitely recommend adding to your list.

Have you been up to the castle in Guardamar yet?

👀 This afternoon we had a look around the new Paseo del Mar leisure complex in Torrevieja.

It's not quite finished yet, but is looking good so far.

🍔 Plenty of fast food options (KFC, TacoBell, McDonalds) as well as sit down restaurants, great views of the marina and towards the beach.

Two shops so far (Wave The Wave & Ale Hop) with a few more to come. Plus a bowling alley and cinema 🎳

Parking underneath, though it is expensive! (€5.65 for just under 2 hours)

A great addition to the town, especially for those coming on holiday ☀️

It will be the first total eclipse in mainland Europe in over a century!

The path of totality will cross León, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Valencia, and Palma de Mallorca.

Make sure you watch safely by wearing certified eclipse glasses 😎

We have some from ORRO - just €9 for 2 pairs and you can get 10% off with code SARAH10 https://orroglasses.com?bg_ref=VFtMpyvlOh

If you go up to Guardamar castle (open daily & free) this is the sea view you'll get 😍

This is how quiet it is too, with the obligatory chicken noises of course! 😆

If you're looking for a lovely day out on the Costa Blanca before the summer heat really kicks in, Tabarca Island is a great choice 🌊

You can hop on a ferry or speedboat from Santa Pola or Alicante and head to Spain's smallest permanently inhabited island - with only around 50-60 people living there year-round.

Once there you can wander through the old streets, relax on the beach, enjoy lunch by the sea, or just sit and take in the amazing views.

If you love the water, Tabarca is surrounded by a protected marine reserve and the crystal-clear sea makes it one of the best spots in the area for snorkelling.

Have you been to Tabarca yet?

I'll pop a link in the comments to prebook boat tickets, it can get really busy at this time of year!
