We are proud to share that the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) has just received yet another recognition at the World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. The WTA acknowledges, rewards and celebrates excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. TOTA, the first Biosphere Certified Destination in the Americas received both, “North America’s Responsible Tourism Award 2018 “, and the “World’s Responsible Tourism Award 2018” for their commitment to the promotion of responsible tourism and sustainability in the Thompson Okanagan Region of British Columbia. Congratulations TOTA!!

It is with great pride that we share the recognition received yesterday by 2 Biosphere Destinations for their commitment to Sustainability. The Thompson Okanagan, the first Biosphere Destination in the Americas, received the "Best Destination Award" bestowed by the World Travel & Tourism Council. For its part, Barcelona received the "Alimara Award" from the CETT.

Biosphere Tourism and Thompson Okanagan present at the International Conference on Sustainability and Competitiveness in Tourism Destinations in Arona. Glenn Mandziuk of Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association participated in the panel on Destination competitiveness and sustainability. Glad to have the first North American Biosphere destination candidate attending this meeting!

Today and tomorrow! International conference on sustainability and competitiveness in tourism destinations. Arona, Tenerife

Los próximos 15 y 16 de junio tendrá lugar en el Auditorio Infanta Leonor de Los Cristianos, Arona, la Conferencia Internacional: "Sostenibilidad y Competitividad en Destinos Turísticos" , la primera Conferencia patrocinada por Naciones Unidas tanto a través de la UNESCO como de la OMT.

Más de 40 expertos del mundo del turismo y la sostenibilidad de diferentes nacionalidades (Canadá, Rusia, Alemania o México, entre otros) y organizaciones (Naciones Unidas, OMT, Secretaría de Estado de Turismo de España, o RTVE) se darán cita en el Auditorio Infanta Leonor de Los Cristianos con un objetivo claro: construir nuevas alianzas entre destinos que fomenten el Desarrollo Sostenible en los mismos, y recoger dicho compromiso a través del Memorándum y la Declaración de Arona sobre el “Turismo Sostenible para el Desarrollo de los Destinos Turísticos”.
