Welcome to our sun-drenched estate nestled in a sought-after area of fertile rolling hillsides between the traditional white-washed towns of Alhaurin el Grande and Coin. Both are just a 3-mile drive away with all convenient modern facilities, supermarkets and restaurants. The newly-renovated, stylish Miralmonte restaurant, including covered outdoor seating, is a pleasant 20-minute walk away. The A

ndalucian Rescue Centre for Horses (ARCH), featured-on-TV, is just a short 10-minute walk away. “Alhaurin”, a name given by the Moors, means “God´s garden”, the area being fertile and with a pleasant winter climate. There are abundant fresh fruit and vegetables grown and sold locally and a mix of traditional Spanish people/culture and a large, established, international community. You can enjoy easy access, within 35 minutes, to the golden beaches of the Costa-del-Sol at Marbella, Fuengirola, Mijas and Malaga. We offer two options in our privileged, peaceful rural location. Both are light and airy, newly renovated to a high standard, and enjoy views over the whitewashed town of Alhaurin el Grande set against the Sierra Mijas mountains. They offer access to our 4 acre estate with diverse plant-life, nature trails, friendly animals, and many places to sit quietly and soak in the surrounding beauty. Secure parking and wi-fi included. GARDEN APARTMENT – with two ensuite double bedrooms, a lounge/dining area and fully equipped open-plan kitchen, private covered terrace with armchairs, al fresco dining and adjacent gas barbecue. The master bedroom has a king-size double bed and french doors onto the terrace. The second bedroom is built into the hillside with a window-well, making it ideal for cooler summer/warmer winter nights. It has a super king-size/two single beds. The apartment and terrace are all on one level, with three steps from the adjacent car parking space. STUDIO VIEWS APARTMENT – for the solo traveller, enjoys an ensuite bedroom with kitchenette and an elevated outdoor terrace with panoramic views. The private terrace has a large, modern gas barbecue, quality outdoor dining and lounge furniture, granite worktop with sink and washing machine.

Here at Cortijo Fruitful Hills we provide high quality accommodation in an accessible, nature-rich, peaceful setting. We offer an experience of tranquility and connection with and through nature to help people hear that “Still, Small Voice”, and find renewal in the depth of their being. And we are affiliated to the Quiet Garden Movement who draw inspiration from Jesus’ words, “Come away… and rest awhile”.
This morning at church (Centro Christiano de Alhaurin de la Torre) I met a Nepalese man, Oman, visiting from Kathmandu where he has guest accommodation. I also learnt that my American friend at church Ron, liaises with Oman to run a travel agency specifically geared to giving people an experience of nomadic culture, in northern India. We love networking with people like Ron and Oman, those engaging with deeply rooted Jewish and Christian principles like that of the nomadic culture which the tradition of pilgrimage also draws upon. For most of us living a settled life, the journeying, tent-pitching life, such a different experience from our own, has much to teach us. As the talk in church this morning reminded us from Jesus’ words to his followers by the Sea of Galilee… “Let us cross over to the other side”.

I met a family at church (centro christiano Alhaurin de la Torre) who are looking for rental accommodation near Malaga. They are missionaries from Colombia and training for a placement in the Middle East. In the meantime he has a warehouse job in Malaga and she is an estate agent. They have two small children and are staying in Spain for just one or two years. Photos following.

Recent guests have included a mum and her six year old daughter in our Studio Apt.The mum said she was undecided between booking here and in Malaga city and said she was so glad she chose here because they live in Islington, London and this was just what they needed. The little girl adored our cats, one of whom, Socks, gave her a tour of the garden. She asked her mum “Can we come and live here?”
