🇮🇹 TRIESTE — first time? Save this list.

✓ Miramare Castle — start here. The castle is right on the Adriatic with spectacular views. I skipped the interior and spent time in the park instead. Park is free, while the entrance to the castle is around €17. To get there, take bus 6 or 36 from the train station, and ride around 20 min.

✓ Canal Grande — head back into town and start exploring from here. It's one of the central areas and an easy walk to most of the main sights.

✓ Serbian Orthodox Church — it's located right by the canal and worth a quick stop for its beautiful architecture.

✓ Piazza della Borsa — elegant historic square and an easy stop on the way to the main piazza.

✓ Piazza Unità d’Italia — the must-see. This is Trieste’s huge main square which opens directly onto the sea.

✓ Waterfront — walk along the seafront from Piazza Unità. Great views, especially towards sunset.

✓ San Giusto Cathedral & Castle — head uphill to the oldest part of the city. The uphill walk takes 15 minutes. The castle entrance is around €7 and the views from the top are worth it.

✓ Coffee break ☕ — Trieste is famous for its coffee culture, so make time for one in a traditional café.

✓ Sunset by the sea — end the day around Piazza Unità and the waterfront. The city feels especially good in the evening.

📌 Tip: Trieste’s centre is very walkable, but expect some uphill walking around San Giusto. Miramare is easiest by bus.

🇮🇹 VENICE — first time? Here’s your list.

✓ St. Mark’s Square — the obvious place to start. Come early for a quieter experience.

✓ St. Mark’s Basilica — go inside for the golden mosaics. It’s much more impressive than the exterior suggests.

✓ Pala d’Oro — inside St. Mark’s Basilica; a spectacular golden Byzantine altarpiece covered in precious stones.

✓ St. Mark’s Campanile — take the lift to the top for one of the best views over Venice.

✓ Doge’s Palace — walk through the grand rooms, cross the Bridge of Sighs and see the old prison cells. One of the best places to understand Venice’s history.

✓ Bridge of Sighs — you’ll see it from outside, but walking through it as part of the Doge’s Palace visit is even better.

✓ Rialto Bridge — Venice’s most famous bridge. Go early or around sunset for the best atmosphere.

✓ Grand Canal — take Vaporetto Line 1 and sit outside if you can. It’s basically a sightseeing tour for the price of a public transport ticket.

✓ Gondola ride — iconic, but expensive. If you just want the experience of crossing the Grand Canal by traditional boat, take a traghetto for around €2.

✓ Santa Maria della Salute — beautiful Baroque church at the entrance to the Grand Canal. Walk around Punta della Dogana for great views.

✓ Dorsoduro — one of the best areas to simply walk around, with quieter streets, canals and good bars.

✓ Venice at night — stay out after dinner. Once the day-trippers leave, the city feels completely different.

OPTIONAL — if you have more time:

✓ Accademia — for Venetian art.

✓ Cannaregio — quieter streets, canals and good places for dinner.

✓ Libreria Acqua Alta — quirky bookshop and a quick fun stop.

✓ Murano — famous for glassmaking.

✓ Burano — colourful houses and canals; worth the half-day trip if you have time.

Altea • Guadalest • Algar Waterfalls ✨

One of the best day trips from Alicante!

🤍 Altea (about 1 hour from Alicante) was easily my favourite. Charming white streets, stunning viewpoints over the sea, and so many authentic little boutiques and artisan shops. It felt peaceful and much less touristy than I expected.

🏰 Guadalest (around 30 minutes from Altea) is more touristy, but just as beautiful. A tiny village perched on the mountainside with incredible views and lots of history.

💦 Algar Waterfalls (about 20 minutes from Guadalest) were the perfect finish. The water stays around 18–20°C year-round, so it’s definitely refreshing—but I couldn’t resist a swim! Bring water shoes if you plan to get in.

This tour was a great way to spend a day outside Alicante and see a different side of the Costa Blanca🌿

Where to stay in Palma de Mallorca 🏝️🇪🇸

If you’re wondering where to stay in Mallorca, here’s my quick take:

📍 Palma – Best if you want to explore the city, eat well, and be close to everything. Ships dock in Palma, so if you're cruising from Palma, this is the closest option.

📍 Torrenova – We stayed at Hotel Florida Magaluf . Amazing views, great hotel, and a quieter location. It's located on the hill and a 10-min walk from Magaluf and Playa de San Matias beaches.

📍 Palmanova – Perfect for families and beach days. Lots of hotels, restaurants, shops and great beaches.

📍Magaluf – Best for nightlife.

📍 Alcúdia & Cala d’Or – Great if you’re after beautiful beaches and a more relaxed vibe.

Mallorca really has something for everyone. 🌴

Sóller & Valldemossa 🤍 Two villages you can’t miss in Mallorca!

📍Valldemossa (pictures 8-20) – A charming mountain village with cobbled streets, stone houses, and stunning views. Famous for its historic monastery and the time Frédéric Chopin spent here.

📍Sóller (pictures 1-7) – Known for its scenic vintage tram, lively main square, orange groves, and beautiful Art Nouveau architecture. A perfect place to wander, eat, and soak up the local atmosphere.

If you’re visiting Mallorca, these two villages are definitely worth adding to your itinerary. ❤️

🇪🇸 One day in Palma (capital city of Palma de Mallorca, Spain) ✨

If you only have one day to explore Palma, here’s an easy itinerary:

📍 Start at Castell de Bellver, where you’ll get some of the best panoramic views over Palma and the bay. It’s located on a hill, so it’s easiest to get there by taxi (we paid around €13) or by local bus.

⛪ Next, head to the magnificent Palma Cathedral (La Seu). It’s free to admire from the outside, but you’ll need to buy a ticket if you want to visit the interior.

👑 Just next to the cathedral is the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, another must-see landmark.

🏛️ Spend some time wandering through Palma’s beautiful Old Town, explore its charming streets, go shopping and visit Plaça Major, the main square.

🍷 End your day with delicious tapas at one of the city’s many local restaurants.

💡 Practical tips:

• Check the opening hours of attractions before your visit, especially if you plan to go inside.

• Arriving by cruise ship? Take the cruise shuttle or a taxi from the port (around 15–20 minutes) and get dropped off near the cathedral.

• Parking in Palma can be challenging, so if you’re staying elsewhere on the island, the local bus is usually the easiest option.

• Skip Uber—it can be much more expensive. Regular taxis are usually the better choice.

Valencia 3-Day Itinerary 🇪🇸✨

If you’re spending a long weekend in Valencia, here’s the exact itinerary I followed during my 3-day trip.

We stayed at the beautiful Casual del Cine Hotel, right behind the main square, so we explored mostly on foot and by using the local buses.

Day 1 – Explore Valencia’s Old Town

• Mercado Central (open until 3 pm) – the perfect place to experience local food and atmosphere.
• La Lonja de la Seda – located right next to the market. Entry fee applies, takes around 20 minutes, and is absolutely worth visiting.
• Valencia Cathedral – €12 general admission (includes the Holy Grail). You can also climb the Miguelete Bell Tower separately for €3. Be prepared for 207 steps, but the panoramic city views are worth it!
• Plaza de la Reina
• Plaza de la Virgen
• Torres de Serranos – small entrance fee and another fantastic viewpoint over the city.
• Stroll through Turia Park.
• Finish the day with tapas at La Calita or enjoy an authentic paella at Haus Restaurant.

Day 2 – City of Arts & Sciences 🐠🔬

We took a local bus from the city centre (around a 15-minute ride).

We bought the full ticket (around €50), which includes all three attractions. Make sure to book a time slot for the Hemisfèric in advance.

• Hemisfèric – immersive projection experience.
• Science Museum – great for science lovers and especially fun if you’re travelling with kids.
• Oceanogràfic – the highlight of the complex! Allow at least 1.5–2 hours here.

Plan to spend around 3–5 hours in total, depending on how much you want to see.

Afterwards, we headed back to the Old Town for lunch, shopping, and an evening stroll.

Day 3 – Bioparc & Valencia Marina 🦁🌊

We spent around 3 hours at Bioparc, which was one of the best zoos I’ve visited.

After a short break back in the Old Town, we headed to the port and beaches, walked around the marina, and ended the trip with an unforgettable flamenco show at Palosanto.
