-----

Thank you to the wonderful Mina for the fantastic organization of the 10th French Speed Meeting ( ), where we met interesting people, spoke in French, and enjoyed French cheeses and wines in the magnificent setting of the Jevrem Grujić House in Belgrade. ❤️🍷🧀

À la prochaine!

🚢 St. Thomas cruise stop

St. Thomas is one of those ports where you get amazing views the moment you arrive.

Some cruisers stay close to town for shopping and harbor views, while others head straight to the beach or take a short ride to places like Magens Bay.

It’s an easy port to shape around your mood — relaxed beach time or a lighter, no-rush day.

When your ship stops in St. Thomas, what do you usually choose — beach or town?

🚢 Roatán cruise stop

Roatán feels very different from many Caribbean ports.

It’s less about cities and sightseeing, and more about snorkeling, beaches, animal interactions and nature.

Many cruisers head straight to the beach, book a snorkeling trip, or visit places like West Bay, while others choose animal encounters or island tours.

When you stop in Roatán, what’s your priority — beach time or underwater adventures?

🚢 San Juan cruise stop

San Juan is one of those ports where you can actually do a lot on foot if you want to.

Old San Juan is right there: colorful streets, historic forts, cafés, and ocean views, all easy to fit into a cruise day without rushing.

Of course, beaches and excursions are an option too, but many cruisers are surprised by how walkable this port is.

Would you explore Old San Juan on your own, or head straight to the beach?

How to organize your own trip to the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴🏝️

If you are looking for Latino vibes, beautiful beaches, and a typical Caribbean holiday getaway, the Dominican Republic is the perfect pick! The best time to visit Caribbean islands is from December to March, and we chose January.

📍 Location: The Dominican Republic is in the Caribbean, sharing the island of Hispaniola with Haiti.

The two most famous spots are Punta Cana and La Romana. We stayed on Bávaro Beach in Los Corales, Punta Cana at Los Corales Beach Village. We booked an ocean view junior suite for 8 days with breakfast, costing around $1300.

We flew from Serbia — no visa required, just fill out the online e-ticket form before arrival (free, you get a QR code), which is checked at the airport.

💵 Currency: Dominican Peso (DOP) is the main currency. You can change euros or USD at exchange offices to avoid high conversion fees. Payment by card is widely accepted, but rates aren’t always the best.

💰 Prices: They are decent depending on the place, but taxes of 25–30% are added, so it can add up. Punta Cana and La Romana are the most popular and more expensive. Both areas are mostly tourist resorts and very safe, with plenty of security and police around.

During our week-long stay, we:
• Visited Saona Island and Catalina Island
• Relaxed at Macao Beach
• Took an island tour with stops in the town of Higüey (local market, cathedral), a traditional Dominican house, a cigar-rolling workshop, and a cocoa demonstration
• Spent time on Bávaro Beach (note: some seaweed, typical in season)

🚕 Getting around: Taxis and Uber work fine.

🍴 Food: Amazing variety — lots of international options, but definitely try local dishes like mangu, mofongo, rice & beans, sancocho, and fresh seafood (some of the best I've tried!)

Overall, an amazing experience! 🌴 Feel free to drop any questions in the comments if you want tips for your own trip. ❤️
