We had a very cultural day in Segovia, this town was declared World Heritage by the Unesco in 1985.

It is a beautiful town 95 Km up north from Madrid. It has a stunning Roman aqueduct dating from the late 1st or early 2nd century CE, Gothic Cathedral known as "The Lady of Cathedrals and The Alcazar, in general the architecture is beautiful.

Next to the lake we visited the puppets museum in the beautiful original building, very small alleys and tiny windows to protect themselves from the enemies, it has a great exposition of very antic and classic puppets.

This time Segovia celebrated HAY Festival, for us was fascinating to see Stephen Frears, the famous film director from The Queen, Philomena, Dirty Pretty Things to mention some and Peter Florence the Founder and Director of HAY Festival, it was a very interesting talk. After this we visited an old prison, where now it's art exposition.

We did a day trip around the Natural Park of Aire and Candeeiros.

We visited the Salinas Naturals de Rio Maior, we saw how they use the heat to evaporate water and get the salt. We loved the shops very friendly people.

Next stop was Porto de Mos, there is a castle but unfortunately was under maintenance we couldn't get in it's been restored sinde 1936 several times.

Fornea its a unique geological formation, considered as natural amphitheatre

We tried to find the Pena Caves but was a 9 Km hiking route from the picnic area so we couldn't do it for the time, but we had a good time discovering the small villages around the National Park

On our trip to Portugal we decided to have a couple of days visiting the country side and know the small villages around and we really love it, beautiful sunny and hot days.

We stayed in MEIO Country House in Alcanede, very nice old house with a very interesting family history we really recommend stay there, this town has a very old castle which is abandoned and the roman bridge its cool too, definitely it's a nice place to visit.

From Alcanede we drove around Natural Park of Aire and Candeeiros in a day trip after that enjoy the pool and vino verde!

We really loved Portugal and the beautiful towns of Baleal and Peniche. The water is very cold even in mid-summer, however this region is beautiful. And not far from Obidos, Nazare, Sintra, Cascais and Lisbonne. See map here https://goo.gl/maps/K3EVrMKvkpS2

This summer we had a nice time with our british friends in Peniche, Portugal. Yeih finally the beach! Kent and me drove from Madrid around 5 hours, very good roads and highly recommended.

Peniche and Baleal Peninsula a perfect destination if you like surf!!

We visited a couple of places around, to mention some as Nazare, where the record guiness has been reached for its highest waves.

Obidos has beautiful castle around the town and a great aqueduct.

Sintra you must visit the Moors Castle during the day and then off to Cascais beautiful city and beach, don't miss the night market lots of handcrafts, nice food music and drinks.

Around the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros National Park we stayed in Alcanede where is a beautiful and old castle during a day you can drive to Porto de Mos Castle, Salinas de Rio Maior, Fornea and some caves if you want a hike day you can go to Gruta de Pena, we couldn't do it not enough time to walk.

Toledo is a municipality located in central Spain; it is the capital of the province of Toledo and the autonomous community of Castile–La Mancha. Toledo is just 78 Km from Madrid you can go by bus from plaza eliptica.
Toledo has beautiful streets, castle, museum and old monastery, you can walk next to the river and enjoy the famous zip-line we love it.

Collado Mediano its a town in the Community of Madrid in the Sierra de Guadarrama it's just 52 Km from Madrid City. We went there expecting to have snow as every December but this year was an exception, the snow started one week after our stay, its very close Valdesqui ski resort.
We had a great time been away from the city and enjoying the small town and the best was the view on the top of the hills, we did hiking "Ruta del Castillo" and "Yacimientos Romanos'
Another option is visit Cercedilla and Cotos its very easy to get there using renfe trains.

We had a couple of days in The Pyrenees, we flew to Tolouse and drove 2 hours to Tredos and then Viella where we stayed, just 20 minutes from Baqueira Beret the ski resort. It was a great trip except for the rain ;)
