Our final stop on our trip to Spain was the medieval hillside town of Toledo. Another town that may people do as a day trip, but it really deserves more of your time.

Since we stayed a couple of nights, we were able to take our time and get to know the city. We had some incredible empanadas, enjoyed gorgeous views from the lookout point across the river, and went underground on an underground tour.

We definitely recommend spending more than just a few hours in Toledo.

You guys! Seville is such a gem. There is just so much to see in this charming city. We enjoyed a great small group tour that included a visit to the Cathedral, the Cathedral tower, and the Real Alcázar.

We recommend skipping the tower, it definitely wasn’t worth it, but the Cathedral and the Real Alcázar definitely were. We learned so much about the history of both and had free time to tour the palace gardens on our own. It was such a great tour!

Here’s the tour if you’re interested.

We left Cordoba and took an hour train ride to Seville, Spain. Despite Seville being a bigger town, it is full of charm and character.

We spent our first day in Seville taking in the sights of the old town area surrounded by the smell of orange blossoms. It was fabulous.

Have you ever visited Spain? If so, what cities did you visit?

3 days in Cordoba allowed us time to just take it easy as we soaked up the Spanish sun and explored this little slice of Andalusia. I loved all of the cute patios that were starting to spring to life. They were hidden behind building walls and around corners just waiting to be discovered.

When you combine those cute patios with the beautiful Mezquita, the flowing river, and all the great Spanish food and wine, it’s easy to take it easy in this town.

We kicked off our tour of Spain’s Andalusia region with a visit to the historic town of Cordoba.

Cordoba is an easy train ride from Madrid (about 1.5 hours) so most people visit it as a day trip. We are really trying to slow down our travels a bit, so we decided to spend 3 days in Cordoba, and I’m really glad we did. This was the perfect amount of time to see all the sights, and experience the town without all of the day trippers. 😉

The history of this area is a beautiful mix of cultures as it changed hands so often between Christian and Muslim rulers. A perfect example of this is the Mezquita, a mosque built in the 700s that was later converted to a Christian cathedral. Instead of tearing down the mosque, they built the cathedral into it, preserving the historic architecture. It’s truly stunning and something that is indescribable. A must-see while visiting Cordoba.

If you aren’t playing the points and miles game, you’re missing out. We are off on our next trip to Europe, flying across the pond in business class with Iberia Air for just 32k points (less than one credit card sign up bonus).

Our flight was from Boston to Madrid and included lay down seats, great food and drinks, and wonderful service.

I honestly don’t know how we will ever go back to flying economy. lol

What questions do you have about getting started with credit card travel points? We are happy to help you learn!
