A few things to consider when buying a Strat 🎸

In this short clip from my interview with Mario Cobo, I talk about some of the details I personally look at: the guitar’s weight, the number of pieces used to build the body, the type of wood, its grain and the comfort of the neck.

Transparent or translucent finishes make it easier to see the wood and how the body has been constructed. With an opaque finish, those details can be harder to spot.

Of course, black Strats can sound great too. The colour itself doesn’t determine whether a guitar sounds good or bad.

And these are only a few things to consider. There’s much more to a good guitar than its wood: the construction, fretwork, hardware, electronics, setup and, most importantly, how it feels and sounds in your hands.

Everyone should choose the guitar they like, one that feels comfortable, suits their budget and inspires them to play. Let your ears have the final say.
