Spring has very much arrived! This Red Knobbed Coot, seen on a Valencia Birding trip to Alicante last week, already has two chicks which are growing fast!

Thanks to a great deal of conservation work throughout Alicante and Valencia, White Headed Duck can be regularly seen throughout the region's wetlands. This male was seen on a Valencia Birding trip to Alicante last week.

A really interesting and rewarding "branch" of my work is to collaborate with the inspirational young people at Cambridge House International School in Valencia. It's heart warming to see children and teenagers genuinely motivated to learn how to help wildlife and conserve nature. Huge respect to them, to their teachers and parents.

Spring is here in Alicante! Last weekend we enjoyed the sight of huge numbers of Barn Swallows, Red-Rumped Swallows, Common Swift, Pallid Swift, Alpine Swift and House Martins passing through the wetlands. Common Reed Warblers and Great Reed Warblers were present, and already singing, and Red Knobbed Coot had chicks on the nest! A Little Ringed Plover dropped in to round off the day.
