Travel Puffin

Driving from Spain to France, this was our (the dog and I) last stop and farewell to Spain, not far from the border in a beautiful place called Villanúa in Aragon. It is along the route of the Camino de Santiago and as I passed in the car I just had to turn round and go back for a better look. At the foot of the Pyrenees by now the air was colder but the sky was blue and it was breathtaking. If I ever drive back to Spain I'll be sure to put it on the list 😍

Missing Italy 🇮🇹 I went to Amalfi and all I got was an umbrella and a raincoat. When I left Sorrento in shorts and a t-shirt, it was sunny and warm. When I arrived in Amalfi it was raining so hard for about an hour that the streets were flooding and there was nothing to do apart from take shelter and wait for it to pass. When it stopped raining, the sun came out, the sky went back to blue and it was glorious. This was taken from the top of the steps outside Amalfi cathedral.

This island is so small you can walk around it in one day. One or two nights are sufficient, or do it in a day trip from Ischia or Naples. Procida is full of steps and hills but is awash with colour, along with breathtaking beauty and views that are well worth the climbs 💛

Proof that nature does not need humans to blossom 🏵 I never get tired of seeing blossom against a background of blue sky. It's one of the prettiest sights in the world 💕

With humans in lockdown the planet can do some healing 😍

As the lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus in India continues, pollution levels across much of the country have dropped sharply. Now some residents in northern India say they can see the snow-capped Himalayas 200 kilometres away for the first time in 30 years.

This view is about 10 seconds walk from my front door. At times like this when it is easy to worry or panic and feel anxious about the future, we have to try and remember the positives and take the time a lot of us now find ourselves with to appreciate what is around us. I probably take this view for granted, and I shouldn't. I hope this time we are all experiencing at the moment stays with everyone, even when it is over, in that we should remember to appreciate what is too easily overlooked and taken for granted.

We are all on lockdown here in Spain but I am allowed to take my dog for brief walks. During the second walk yesterday I saw this on the ground. I thought it was somewhat funny, because travelling is what we are here for, but it is also the last thing any of us can and should be doing right now. It was as if this discarded paper was taunting me!

Maybe it is a sign that this period of uncertainty will pass. And when it is over I should go to Paris? Staring up at the Eiffel tower I will turn round and find a man in red trousers pulling a large suitcase. Unlikely to happen as I've been to Paris and don't feel a yearning to return but now, who knows?

MGM are temporarily closing their resorts in Vegas, including Bellagio, New York New York, MGM Grand, Park MGM and the Mirage. I wonder if the Bellagio foutains will stop as well 🤔 Caesars is likely to follow suit too having already vastly cutdown on staff. This is a throwback pic to my second Vegas trip in March 2019. On this day last year I was actually travelling back to Spain from Vegas. One of the things about Vegas is the constant hubbub of people and noise. Even more so than New York. Vegas really does never sleep. The Strip is going to be a different place in the next few weeks
