Our journey through Stockholm’s underground art continues. 🚇🎨 Next stop: Solna Centrum.

Opened in 1975, the station feels like stepping inside a giant political artwork from the 1970s. A dramatic red sky hangs above the platforms, while a seemingly endless green spruce forest stretches along the rock walls. ❤️🌲

But look closer and the scenery tells a much darker story. Artists Karl-Olov Björk and Anders Åberg used the station to highlight some of the major social and environmental issues of the time — from deforestation and industrial pollution to rural depopulation.
Among the painted scenes, you’ll find forests threatened by machinery, environmental damage and images reflecting the decline of Sweden’s rural communities. What initially looks colourful and almost playful soon becomes a powerful piece of social commentary.

Solna Centrum is a perfect example of what makes Stockholm’s metro so extraordinary: here, even your daily commute can become a journey through art, history and uncomfortable questions. 🚇🇸🇪✨

A family holiday can change very quickly when your child looks at the restaurant menu and announces: “I’m not eating that.” 😅

You might be dreaming of Nordic flavours and fresh seafood, but children often have very different plans for dinner. Usually involving pasta, chips and some determined negotiation. 🍝🍟

It’s impossible to explore Tallinn’s Old Town without noticing St Olaf’s Church rising above the rooftops. ⛪🇪🇪 In the 16th century, its impressive tower made it one of the tallest buildings in the world. Today, it’s one of Tallinn’s most recognisable landmarks — and the climb to the top is well worth the effort.

Take on the 232 steep steps and you’ll be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views across the red rooftops of the Old Town and all the way to the Gulf of Finland. 🌊 A little cardio, followed by one of the best views in Tallinn. 📸

We’re starting a little series about one of Stockholm’s most unexpected attractions — its metro. 🚇🎨

Often described as the world’s longest art gallery, Stockholm’s underground network turns an ordinary journey into something worth missing a train for. And we’re starting right in the heart of the city, on the Blue Line at T-Centralen.

Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a vast underground cavern covered in striking blue floral and leaf patterns. 💙 The calming blue was deliberately chosen by artist Per Olof Ultvedt to create a peaceful contrast to the rush and stress of one of Stockholm’s busiest stations.

Look closely and you’ll also spot blue silhouettes of workers painted across the rock — a tribute to the people who helped build the station itself. 👷
