The wild North is waiting for you, and getting there just got a little easier.

Emirates now flies daily between Dubai and Helsinki, connecting one of the world’s busiest hubs directly to Finland, with an easy onward hop to Rovaniemi from there. It’s a route we’ve been hoping for, and it opens Lapland up properly to travelers across the Middle East, Asia and beyond.

Finnair has added new options too, a direct route to Toronto for travelers coming from Canada, and new seasonal flights straight into Rovaniemi from Paris, Brussels and Zurich, on top of the dozens of European connections already running.

Guided hikes through Lapland’s national parks are one of the activities we get asked about most, and Pyhä-Luosto is one of our favorites to send people to. It’s one of the oldest parks in the country, and the trail moves between quiet pine forest, open fell, and ridges that look nothing alike within the same hike.

Your guide adapts the route depending on the day, the group, and the snow, sometimes on snowshoes, sometimes on foot, sometimes on skis if conditions call for it. There’s usually a stop along the way too, hot drinks and something warm by the fire before you continue.

We take care of the planning and the guiding, so all you have to do is show up, enjoy the time outdoors, and come home with the memories.

The months in -ber are finally back, and with them, ruska. For a few weeks, Lapland’s forests and hillsides shift into warmer tones before snow takes back its place.

After the endless days of summer, the nights come back quickly. Northern Lights can start showing up from late August, well before winter sets in, and the whole season stays comfortable enough for long walks, canoeing, or quiet time by the river.

Most people think of Ruska as something that happens to the trees on the hills. But really it happens everywhere, right down to what’s under your boots.

For a few weeks each autumn, the whole forest turns red and gold at once, moss and lichen included, and then it’s gone until next year. A week either way can change what you actually see.

We build trips around windows like this on purpose. Get the timing right and autumn in Lapland is colorful, quiet, and yours almost alone. It’s a wonderful time to visit.

Summer riding through Lapland’s forests is calm by design. The horses are Finnish and Nordic breeds, including the Finnhorse, Finland’s only native horse and one with a centuries-long history in this landscape.

You walk through pine trails and past lakes, with stops to take in the view. The pace lets you actually look around, and there’s time at the farm to meet the horses properly, learn about their care, and warm up with a snack and drink.

This works for first-time riders and people who’ve been on horses for years. Either way, you end up seeing the forest at a pace that suits it.
