Tales by the sea is a company established in 2020. We operate one Lagoon 42 sailing catamaran. Want to go for a sauna? Want to have water scooter?

Our aim is to provide experiences at the sea, which you remember and perhaps even tell stories about later. Our services can be customized: Want to have chef onboard, visit a restaurant or pick up catering food? Want to anchor and swim, or visit an island?

Carnaval de Puerto Plata 2023 🎉 The carnival took place on all Sundays of February and, as a cherry on the top, the closing carneval is today - Sat 11th March. The troupes paraded along Puerto Plata Malecón, which is a long ocean front road, and ended up to a amphitheater. So much effort put into the costumes! They are called Taimáscaros, coming from words Taíno (the indigenous people) and Màscara (mask). Cool to get a glimpse of this culture event 🤗

Some of our catches so far. Mostly Tuna, Mahi Mahi & Mackerel + one rainbow runnner. Good hints and help also from 🤜🤛🤌

Fresh lobster from Mustique island. We had no clue what to do with them, but luckily we had crew on board and they made some spells and voilà! In addition they forced me to handle them... brrrrhhh!

Ready for a chill weekend ✌️

We found a really cool anchorage back in Guadeloupe. Nice snorkeling by the reef siding the small bay and great place to enjoy the sunset views from our hammock chair 🤩

At Dominica in the middle of the night. Finally got a new drone to replace one that we lost in the middle of Atlantic. Our underwaterlights from Lumitec have been really nice here. They bring all kind of sealife towards the boat in some spots when at anchor. New spreader lights also help working on the deck when it is dark (original one from factory is quite poor)

Merry Christmas everyone 🤩 no white Xmas for us this year but cannot complain 😜 on Christmas eve we did a dive at a nice wreck (see other post) and then we had dinner with and at Whalers Lodge, a really cool lodge the friends on board of Balance had rented (thanks for the invite!). We arrived late to our boats and the bay was filled with anchorage lights, beautiful. Fun fact: the lodge has historical value in Bequia.

The island has long tradition of whaling and they used to watch for whales coming to the bay from this lodge (it has stunning view to the ocean). International Whaling Commission (IWC) allows aborginal whaling in four places in the world. Three of them are in the Artic and fourth is here, on Bequia. Under the IWC regulations, the island's whalers can hunt 4 humpback whales per year but at least in recent years they have caught only 1 per year. They kill them with harpoons. Getting a whale is apparently a huge festive for the islanders. Too bad I didn't take any photos of our dinner as it was YUMMY! Steaks, yellowfin tuna and veggies from the grill 💯 the beef and the tuna just melted in your mouth and our experimental pumpkin BBQ turned out to be a success.

Our most used sail on the crossing was a Parasailor. It is a 152 m2 sail with a wing in the middle that keeps it up even with lightest winds. Really comfortable and forgiving to use, and don't have to adjust it constantly. From Canaries - Cape Verde we had it up 100% and frome there to Grenada maybe 80%. If you are interested in buying one get in touch!

We arrived at Grenada around 8pm!! We finished the Atlantic crossing in a bit less than 20 days of sailing. We sailed from Gran Canaria to Cape Verde in 5,5 days, stayed there for a week and then sailed to Grenada in 14 days and 5 hours. It was the first ocean crossing for all of us; a journey we will remember for the rest of our lives! 🔥

was definitely worth of the visit. Great place to kitesurf as well, but due to birds nesting the best spots open in August. Stayed few hours and continued to Björkö.

Tänään saimme kunnian olla toteuttamassa .fi kanssa Oliverin unelmapäivää. 5-vuotiaalla Oliverilla todettiin viime syksynä pahanlaatuinen kasvain aivoissa, jota ei voi leikata. Käytiin Oliverin ja hänen perheen kanssa muutaman tunnin purjehduksella Helsingissä 🤩☀️
