Ever wondered what it’s like to surf the breaks around the Mamanuca Islands?

There are around seven main breaks in the area, working in different tidal, swell, and wind directions. One of them is the world-famous Cloudbreak, a high-performance left-hand reef break. It works on all tides and can handle swells from 2–20 feet.

But don’t worry! There are plenty of other breaks that are more mellow, with waves suitable for all levels of surfers.

Our kitchen team has been preparing delicious star fruit pickles using freshly harvested star fruit from the tree at our Momi Bay Base. First slices the star fruit, sun-dries it for a couple of days, then marinates the dried star fruit with a blend of spices.

They’re bursting with flavour, the natural sweetness of the star fruit perfectly complements the spices!

This is a must-try when you stay with us at the Momi Bay Base!

At the base, the groups don’t just stay. They live, learn, and give back. From participating in community projects, harvesting fresh vegetables, and catching fish, to engaging in marine conservation and exploring the island, each day is filled with adventure, learning, and meaningful experiences.

Happy International Wetlands Day

Wetlands are one of the most important natural environments that are more than ecosystems. They are living cultural landscapes that support livelihoods, food systems, water security, and community wellbeing. However, sadly wetlands are disappearing three times faster than forests, making traditional stewardship and local knowledge more important than ever.

At Travelwell South Pacific, we give back to wetland environments through marine conservation projects and mangrove planting at our Yasawa Islands Base and Momi Bay Base. We also work alongside the Heritage in Young Hands program, creating opportunities for local youth to learn about wetlands through both traditional knowledge and scientific perspectives connecting culture, conservation, and the next generation.

Up-skilling our water safety 🌊

Our amazing team has just completed a two-day snorkeling guide training, covering essential skills like first aid, CPR, and in-water rescue scenarios. This training ensures that every ocean experience we offer is safe, confident, and enjoyable for both our guests and staff.

We recently welcomed back the first international groups of 2026! They spent one week based in Momi, participating in various community projects and adventures throughout the week.

Here are some of the moments from the program:

・Meal program: Delivered nutritious meals to a women’s shelter
・Clay workshop: Learned traditional Fijian pottery-making from women in the local village
・I-sevusevu: Presented sevusevu (kava roots) to seek permission and show respect when entering the village
・Kids Club: Fostering cross-cultural exchange and English language development through shared activities with local students
・Sigatoka Sand Dunes hike: Hiked through the national park while learning about native plants and conservation efforts
・Beach clean-up: Collected 9 bags of rubbish
・Sigatoka Market visit: Visited the market and explored local produce

We look forward to welcoming more students and continuing to create positive, lasting impact together!!

We are a cafe based in Momi Bay Base, built by students with a vision to create long-term income for local service projects. Since opening in 2018, every purchase you make directly funds community initiatives and supports locals in need.

Our revenue keeps service projects running year-round, even when community projects participants aren't here. Funds provide education support, construction assistance, supplies for the Heart House, and emergency aid for families facing hardship.
