We are beyond excited and proud to announce the launch of our company, Andeana Hats!!!! Our idea while trekking the Rainbow Mountains of Peru has become a reality!
Our hats are all hand-made out of sheep wool and alpaca wool by Quechua artisans in the Sacred Valley, Peru. Both founders Pats Krysiak and Laura Grier are obsessed with the hat culture and energy of Peru and were determined to share the energy of the Sacred Valley with the world and to help bring awareness to these female artisans and their cultural practices. The idea behind our hats is to combine the personal hat styles of the Quechua people with their traditional weavings to create apparel that captures the energy and culture of the Sacred Valley and infuse it into the everyday life of those who wear them.
We have partnered with Awamaki, a non-profit organization based in Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, who work closely together with multiple indigenous communities in the remote mountains of Peru. Awamaki invests in women’s skills, connects them to global marketplaces and supports their leadership so they can increase their income and transform their communities. Also, we have signed on as official artisans with NOVICA, National Geographic’s artisan catalog and are proud to be featured in their catalog as well as the Unicef catalog! Today our website www.andeanahats.com officially has gone live and we will be taking pre-orders for hats for early 2019.
If you are having serious wanderlust and want to travel with us to Peru, the other exciting news is that we have partnered with Awamaki to also create and book tours and homestays where you can stay in the Sacred Valley, visit the women and learn to weave, learn a bit of Quechua from them, and watch how they adorn your own custom hat that you can go home with!
We invite you to like our page Andeana Hats and Instagram pages www.instagram.com/andeanahats and please help spread the word about our passion project and help to support and empower these women. Follow us to stay tuned for the announcement of our next Women's retreat called “Andeana Retreat” where Pats and I are going to lead a trip to both the Sacred Valley and to the Amazon jungle of Peru to visit the origins of both Andeana Hats and Glossy Paradise, Pats' Amazonian face oil company. Dates will be late September of 2019 TBD! It is going to be epic!
Combining the energy of the Andes Mountains and sustainable fashion, Andeana Hats aim to empower Artisan women in the Sacred Valley by supporting their traditional weaving and textile techniques. Shop All Andean Artisan Hats.
