🌊 Naidiri Marine Biodiversity Park at Tourism Super Week! 🌿

Last month, our co-founder Manoa and youth team member Sanaila were honoured to be invited to Tourism Super Week in Fiji, hosted by Tourism Fiji.

As part of the event, both received tour guide training and were proud to be awarded their certificates by none other than the Hon. Viliame Gavoka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Manoa was also invited to speak on a panel discussion focused on “Collaborations in the Industry, Fostering Destination Growth, and Elevation of Guest Experience” — an important conversation that reflects our vision for inclusive and sustainable tourism in Fiji.

🌺 Vinaka vakalevu to Tourism Fiji for not only organizing such a meaningful event, but also for giving Indigenous community members a voice in shaping the future of Fiji’s tourism landscape. We’re proud to be part of this journey and look forward to building stronger collaborations across the sector.

🌏💙 Happy Earth Day from Naidiri Marine Biodiversity Park! 💙🌊

This Earth Day, we honour the deep connection between land, sea, and people. 🌺🐟 From vibrant coral reefs to the whispering mangroves, every ecosystem here at Naidiri is a living story of resilience, balance, and beauty.

We are proud to stand alongside our communities, traditional knowledge holders, and conservation partners to protect the precious marine life that calls this place home. 🐠🌿✨

🌊 When we protect biodiversity, we protect the future.
🌴 When we listen to nature, we learn how to live in harmony.

Join us—today and every day—as we re-root, reconnect, and regenerate 🌱💫

Our youth group dedicated time to coral reef monitoring as part of our ongoing efforts to protect and preserve marine ecosystems. Using tools like the CoralWatch Health Chart, we were able to assess the condition of our reefs and contribute valuable data to conservation effort.

The youth group went through a training with our in-house sustainability and marine biology experts- Gauri Salunkhe and Alejandra Lorente.

And this was our first trial round for the youth group to learn and practice how to use the charts.

Together, we are not just protecting reefs—we’re ensuring the ocean’s story continues for future generations. 💙

Last week we were invited to attend the first ever AdventureNEXT Fiji 2024, bringing together organisations involved in sustainable tourism both in Fiji and internationally. It was an amazing experience, as we learnt so much about sustainability, marketing, tour guiding, and much more from both local and international experts! We also had the opportunity to strengthen old connections like and make new friends like .ark! Striving towards being more sustainable and regenerative needs us to collaborate and support each other, so we're always very thankful to meet like-minded friends in the industry! A big kudos to and for organising this first of its kind event and thank you for inviting us! We look forward to more events like this to bring together sustainable and regenerative businesses! Vinaka Vakalevu!

"Grateful to host the team from Tourism Fiji today! 🌊 Together, we explored our Marine Biodiversity Park, shared insights about our 15-year journey in marine conservation, and planted corals to support the restoration of our vibrant reef ecosystem. Their appreciation and encouragement remind us of the importance of partnerships in preserving our natural heritage.

Every action, big or small, contributes to a healthier ocean for future generations, and today’s collaboration is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together. 💙 Let’s continue to champion marine conservation, one coral at a time! "

On 4 Nov 2024, the convoy was invited to present at a hybrid seminar at . Our founder, Manoa Duwai, spoke about the history, mission and impacts of our Marine Protected Area (MPA). Gauri Salunkhe, our sustainability advisor, presented her research around the MPA that focused on quantifying the ecological impacts, and highlighting the importance of indigenous knowledge and methods to lead nature-based solutions such as the MPA in Naidiri. We are very grateful for this amazing opportunity and big thanks to Dr Buriata Tofinga and Dr Vikas Gupta from School of Business Management (SBM) for organising this seminar. We learnt so much from all the experts in the room and received so much appreciation and support! Also, we really loved the beautiful campus. Vinaka!

"Breaking Barriers For Our Ocean🌊✨️: The youth of Naidiri stepped out of their comfort zones to spread the importance of marine conservation. Our first-ever awareness session with our neighboring village was a success, and they're inspired to start their own marine protected area soon. Proud moments for our community and our shared future!. Grateful for this meaningful step toward Ocean sustainability.

Last week our founder, Manoa Gosh Duwai , and sustainability advisor, Gauri Salunkhe had the opportunity to present about Naidiri Marine Biodiversity Park together with Manoa Duwai, one of the founders, at the Building Climate Resilience and Sustainable Tourism workshop. The workshop was organised by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in collaboration with Local2030 Islands Network, Pacific Tourism Organisation, and The Ocean Foundation.

We presented about the history, community involvement, impacts, and future plans related to climate adaptation using Naidiri's Marine Protected Area (MPA) and regenerative tourism for the marine park. We had so much positive response and support from all the participants! It was also a great privilege to learn from various stakeholders in Fiji as well as other Pacific islands, including communities, government ministries, private entities, etc. Shout out to a few like Epeli Asaro (), Jenny Leewai, Luisa Lewaqai, (). Thank you Scott Shatto and Gabrielle Johnson for organising such an insightful workshop and inviting us to attend and present. Vinaka!

Another inspiring meeting with the youth club tonight! We discussed how we can get the community involved in coral restoration, attract tourists, and empower everyone to protect our marine protected area (MPA). These MPAs play a vital role in empowering communities through Restoration, Revenue Generation and Re-education. Big thanks to our friends for providing snorkelling equipment and a community laptop to the club!
