Thursday afternoon in Bayeux… and a little experiment that made me smile.

For the first time, I brought together two small groups who didn't know each other for my Bayeux Food Walk.

Five guests, different backgrounds, one shared curiosity about Bayeux, Normandy and, of course, good food! 🧀🍎🥮

We wandered through the old streets, shared stories about the town and local traditions, met some wonderful local producers and stopped along the way for a few Norman tastings.

And the best part?

By the end of the afternoon, the guests were exchanging phone numbers and talking about staying in touch. 😊

That's something I really love about these small-group experiences.

You arrive as strangers…

and sometimes you leave having made new connections.

For me, that's what travelling is really about: good food, stories, unexpected encounters and people.

Thank you to my lovely guests for making Thursday afternoon such a fun one! ❤️

And if you're visiting Bayeux this summer and would like to discover the town in a relaxed, local and (hopefully!) delicious way, I'd love to welcome you on a Bayeux Food Walk.

Small groups, local tastings and plenty of stories along the way.

Come as guests, leave with a taste of Normandy… and maybe a few new friends. 😉

Things I love about France...

How incredibly lucky we are to have such a vibrant and accessible cultural scene !

In summer especially, villages and towns come alive with concerts, street performances, art festivals and spectacular light shows.

- Watching Bayeux Cathedral illuminated at night.
- Enjoying the amazing Éclat(s) de Rue street festival in Caen.
- Fireworks by the sea in Port-en-Bessin.
- Free concerts in village squares.
- Art exhibitions in unexpected places.

These are the little moments that make travelling so special.

Sometimes the best memories aren't made inside famous museums...
They're made while sitting on a bench, listening to music with the locals or looking up at a cathedral glowing under the night sky.

It's one of the many things I love about France. ❤️

Have you ever stumbled across a free event while travelling that became one of your favourite memories?

Most visitors come for the Bayeux Tapestry - well not at the moment unfortunately !- or the D-Day sites... but there's another side to this beautiful town that I love sharing.

Join me for a relaxed Bayeux Food Walk, where we'll wander through the historic streets, meet passionate local producers, taste some of Normandy's finest cheeses and apple specialities, discover a delicious local pastry... and hear the little stories that bring Bayeux to life.

🧀 Local food tastings included
🍎 Meet local artisans
📍 A perfect experience for food lovers, history lovers... or anyone curious to discover the real Bayeux.

I've been so grateful for the wonderful feedback from my first guests this summer, and I'd love to welcome a few more visitors before the season comes to an end.

🇫🇷 Is there anything more French than this? 😋

One of my very good friend enjoying one of France's iconic summer dishes...

A striped marinière, a bowl of fresh moules-frites, crispy French fries, and a chilled glass of white wine... that's summer in France! ☀️🍷

Mussels are one of those simple dishes that bring people together. Whether you're by the sea in Normandy or enjoying them in a cosy little restaurant, they're always a treat.

Would you try moules-frites in France?

Normandy never stops surprising me. 💙

This week I visited Les Franciscaines in Deauville, a beautiful cultural venue combining art, history and architecture under one roof.

One of the highlights was discovering the colourful world of Raoul Dufy. His paintings are full of light, movement and joy, it's easy to understand why so many artists fell in love with Normandy.

Monet, Boudin, Dufy... Normandy has inspired painters for generations.

Have you ever visited Les Franciscaines?

When I created Bayeux Food Walk a few months ago, I simply hoped visitors would enjoy discovering Normandy through its food, history and local artisans.

This week, one of my Australian guests described the experience as "a must-do if you're in the area." Another family told me it was the highlight of their stay in Bayeux.

Reading reviews like these reminds me why I started this adventure.

If you're visiting Bayeux this summer and would like to discover more than just the guidebook highlights, I'd love to welcome you on a small-group food walk through the town.

Thank you to everyone who has already supported this little adventure. 😊

Yesterday, Bayeux felt a little different...

There were police officers everywhere, barriers around the museum, and parts of the town centre were closed.

I'll admit... I thought it was all because of the Medieval Festival, or perhaps the football match later that evening! 😅

How wrong I was...

It turned out that the Bayeux Tapestry was beginning its very special journey to the UK.

Seeing all the activity made me realise just how extraordinary this masterpiece is. Even after living here for years, it's easy to forget that people travel from all over the world to see it.

It was certainly a day to remember in Bayeux!

Were you lucky enough to see the tapestry before it left?

One thing I've learned after living abroad...

French pastries are still hard to beat!

One of my favourite stops during the Bayeux Food Walk is discovering a delicious local speciality: the Saint Eve.

It's not just a delicious pastry... it also comes with a rather amusing story about its name. 😉

I'll keep that little secret for those who join the tour!

What's your favourite French pastry? I'd love to know. 😊

"Osez la médiévale attitude!" ⚔️😊

Well... I gave it my best shot!

This weekend, Bayeux comes alive with its famous Medieval Festival, one of the highlights of the year. The streets are filled with costumes, music, entertainment and a wonderful atmosphere that takes you back in time.

If you're visiting Bayeux this weekend, take some time to wander through the old streets and soak up the festive spirit. It's a fun way to experience another side of this beautiful town.

Have you ever visited Bayeux during the Medieval Festival?
