I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes a group trip feel different from simply joining a tour.

For me, an Away Journey is about creating space to step away from your everyday routine and experience somewhere new with a small group of women.

You don’t have to find a group of friends whose calendars magically align.

You don’t have to plan every hotel, transfer, activity and reservation yourself.

And you don’t have to show up knowing everyone.

The idea is to create a thoughtfully planned experience where you can:

🌍 Discover a destination in a meaningful way
🤝 Meet women who enjoy exploring the world
🍽️ Share meals and experiences together
✨ Have the important details handled for you
🌿 Leave room to slow down and enjoy the destination
💭 Come home feeling like you actually stepped away for a while

There can be adventure. There can be culture. There can be beautiful meals and memorable experiences.

There should also be room to breathe.

That’s the kind of group travel I want to create.

And now I’m curious...

If you could join an Away Journey anywhere in the world, where would you want to go?

I’m building an interest list for future journeys, and your answer will help me decide where we go next!

Comment with a destination you’d love to explore or send me a DM with AWAY to join the list.

AmaWaterways offers so many unique and amazing itineraries on rivers throughout Europe. Here are three of my favorites that I'm putting on my wish list.

🍷Flavors of Portugal & Spain - Celebration of Wine
Set sail from Porto, the beautiful ‘City of Bridges,’ and journey through the UNESCO-designated Douro River Valley, where terraced vineyards and charming quintas showcase the timeless traditions of Portuguese winemaking before exploring some of Spain’s most glorious cities.

🌻Elegance of Burgundy and Provence
Whether you cruise north from Arles or south from Dijon, this 10- or 11-night journey moves slowly through Provence and Burgundy, lingering along the Rhône and Saône. Wander Arles's Roman ruins, join a Van Gogh walking tour, ride a steam train through the Gorges, browse Lyon's Les Halles market and taste Beaujolais and Mâconnais wines.

🇭🇺Magna on the Danube
Experience the heart of Europe on an unforgettable journey along the Danube, exploring storybook cities, grand imperial capitals, and charming riverbank villages from Budapest to Vilshofen. Each day brings enriching cultural encounters, breathtaking scenery, and exclusive experiences designed to immerse you in the region’s timeless beauty.

Which itinerary sparks your interest? Are you sailing on the Douro, Rhône, or Danube?

If you handed me your girls’ trip and said, “Make it amazing…” 🥂

Here’s where I’d start.

➡I’d want to know what your group actually loves.

➡Are you the friends who want long lunches and beautiful hotels?

➡Are you history buffs who want to explore beyond the Champagne houses?

➡Are you foodies looking for memorable meals?

➡Do you want your days filled with experiences, or do you want plenty of time to sit, sip and enjoy being together?

Because those answers matter.

They would shape how I design your Champagne getaway.

Maybe that means a few nights in Reims with a private city experience.

Maybe you spend time in Épernay and build the trip around Champagne houses and leisurely lunches.

Maybe you enjoy a food experience, a private guide, or something completely unexpected.

The point is that I’m not starting with a generic itinerary.

I’m starting with **your group.**

That’s the part of travel planning I love most: taking a destination you’re excited about and turning it into a trip that is made just for you.

If your group has been dreaming about a French girls’ getaway, I’d love to help you make it happen.

Send me **CHAMPAGNE** and let’s start with a conversation about your group.

Champagne, France is about the Champagne, of course. 🥂 But what if your girls’ getaway included a few unique experiences along the way?

When I’m planning a trip for my clients, I love looking beyond the obvious and finding experiences that make the itinerary feel personal and memorable.

If I were crafting a girls’ trip to the Champagne region, here are four experiences I’d be tempted to add:

🍾 Explore Reims with a local guide
A private walking tour is a wonderful way to get to know the city beyond its famous Champagne houses. I’d want to see the magnificent Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Gallo-Roman Cryptoporticus, then leave plenty of time to wander and discover the little details you might miss on your own.

🌲 Step into history in the Argonne Forest
For the history lovers in the group, I’d add a World War I experience in the Argonne Forest. A guided tour can take you through trenches and tunnels where Allied and German forces fought. It’s a fascinating way to experience a very different side of the region.

🧀 Eat your way through Reims
Because no girls’ trip is complete without good food. A local food tour would be high on my list, with plenty of opportunities to taste regional specialties, cheeses and French treats while learning about the food culture of the area.

⚔️ Learn the art of sabrage
Okay, this one is Champagne-adjacent, but how fun would it be to learn how to open a Champagne bottle with a saber?
I would absolutely sign up for this workshop. There’s something about learning a completely unexpected skill on vacation that makes the story so much better when you get home.

The Champagne region has the famous houses, beautiful vineyards and incredible wine. Then there are the experiences that make you say, "Wait… we did WHAT on our girls’ trip?”

That’s where I come in. I love finding those unexpected experiences and weaving them into an itinerary that feels truly one of a kind.

Which of these would you add to your Champagne, France getaway? Tell me in the comments, or send me a message if you’re ready to start planning your own girls’ trip. 🥂

I don’t know about you, but I tend to call anything bubbly “Champagne.” 🥂

Technically, that’s not quite right.

Champagne comes from Champagne.

The Champagne wine region is a defined area in northeastern France, about 90 miles east of Paris. It was officially defined by legislation in 1927 and includes 319 villages and more than 34,300 hectares of land.

And this is where it gets fascinating.

The region’s unique combination of soil, climate and topography creates the conditions needed to grow the grapes used to make Champagne.

There are five main wine-growing areas to explore:

🍾 Reims
🍾 Marne Valley
🍾 Épernay
🍾 Coteaux Vitryats
🍾 Côte des Bar

So how do you get there?

🚆 By train: From Paris, the train can get you to the Champagne region in as little as 45 minutes, depending on where you’re headed. Reims makes an especially easy arrival point.

🚗 By car: Renting a car gives you more freedom to explore smaller villages and vineyards throughout the region. Just remember, you’ll be driving on the other side of the road. 😉

🚘 With a private driver: This is a wonderful choice if you want to relax and let someone else handle the logistics, especially when you’re planning several Champagne houses and experiences.

And then you can settle in and let your girls trip begin. Wake up among the vineyards. Spend an afternoon exploring a Champagne house. Enjoy a leisurely lunch. Visit a village or two. Have dinner with a glass of Champagne, or two.

I can help you decide where to stay, how to get there, which transportation makes sense for your itinerary, and which Champagne houses and experiences are worth your time.

Thinking about adding Champagne to your next trip to France? Send me a message and let’s talk about how I’d design it for you. 🥂

There are a lot of beautiful river cruises out there. So what makes AmaWaterways stand out to me?

As an AmaWaterways Certified Advisor, these are three things I think are especially worth knowing about:

1. Your balcony is actually a place to enjoy the view. ☕️

Most AmaWaterways staterooms feature a combination of a French and full outside balcony, giving you a private outdoor space where you can actually sit and take in the scenery.

Imagine waking up, grabbing your coffee, and watching the river roll by as you cruise through Europe. That’s a pretty lovely way to start the day.

2. Chef’s Table is included. 🍽️

A special dining experience is part of your cruise fare at the Chef’s Table, where you can enjoy a multi-course tasting menu created by the culinary team using locally sourced ingredients.

It’s the kind of experience that makes the journey itself part of the vacation.

3. You can make your shore excursions as active as you want. 🚲

A river cruise doesn’t have to mean simply strolling through town and checking off the highlights.

AmaWaterways offers complimentary excursions that can include options such as biking and hiking, so you can choose something a little more active when that’s your travel style.

A bike ride through the countryside? A hike to a castle? Yes, please.

These are the details I look at when helping my clients decide which river cruise is the right fit for them. Because choosing a cruise is about much more than picking a pretty itinerary.

Curious whether AmaWaterways could be a good fit for your next adventure? Send me a message and let’s talk about what kind of river cruise experience you’re looking for.

What if you could collect four passport stamps in one day?

Yes, really. Four. In one day. ✈️

Picture yourself climbing into a comfortable private vehicle with your own driver (so a little bigger than this cute red one), settling in for the day, and crossing through Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Four countries.

Four distinct cultures and landscapes.

One very memorable day in Europe.

It’s the kind of experience that makes you come home and tell your friends:

“You will never believe what we did on vacation.”

These are the experiences I love finding for my clients. The tucked-away gems, unexpected detours and little moments that turn a great trip into a story you’ll still be telling years later.

If you’re drawn to European travel that takes you beyond the usual highlights, I created a free guide filled with Hidden Europe experiences worth knowing about.

Comment “HIDDEN” or send me a DM and I’ll send you the guide. 📍

Which river cruise should you take first?

That may be the hardest part of river cruising. There are so many beautiful choices.

As an AmaWaterways Certified Advisor, I can help you narrow it down based on the kind of experience you want, rather than simply picking a river because it looks pretty on Instagram.

AmaWaterways sails rivers across the globe, including:

🌍 Europe: Danube, Rhine, Moselle, Douro, Dordogne & Garonne, Main, Rhône, Saône and Seine

🌍 Africa: Chobe and Nile

🌏 Asia: Mekong

🌎 South America: Magdalena

So how do you choose?

Start with the experience you want. Maybe it’s medieval villages and grand European cities. Maybe it’s wine country and French cuisine. Maybe you’re dreaming about Egypt, Vietnam and Cambodia, or something completely unexpected.

That’s where I come in. I can help you sort through the itineraries, destinations and experiences to find the river cruise that fits you.

Curious which river I’d recommend for your travel style? Send me a DM with “RIVER” and let’s talk. 🚢

Spring break is calling… and I think she wants Champagne. 🥂

You know that time of year in New England when the days have been dark, the temperatures have been chilly, and suddenly we are all ready to see a little more sunshine?

I’m not rushing summer. Promise. 😉

But I am thinking about spring getaways.

Imagine spending a few days in France’s Champagne region in April, when the temperatures are crisp, the grapevines are just beginning to wake up, and the flowers are starting to bloom.

The best part? The crowds are still relatively small, which means you can enjoy leisurely cellar visits, linger over lunch, and actually take your time exploring.

And honestly, that sounds like a pretty fabulous way to spend spring break with your girlfriends.

Send me a DM with “CHAMPAGNE” and let’s start dreaming up your getaway. 🥂
