At Purple Martin Vacations, I’ve always believed that travel is more than just a getaway. It is a powerful tool for understanding that our way of life is one of many. By exploring the world, we learn that all cultures have validity and that global equality is a goal worth pursuing.
This perspective is why I am inspired by Rick Steves and his support of the No Kings rally.
The No Kings rally is a powerful reminder that democracy requires active participation. When we stand together for the rule of law over authoritarianism, we protect the very values of equality and openness that make global travel so transformative.
Democracy remains secure only when every individual recognizes the power of their own voice. Let’s continue to travel with an open mind and a commitment to keeping our democracy strong by choosing unity and hope.
This Saturday, March 28, Rally for Democracy Wherever You Are!
I believe the anti-democracy brains behind Project 2025 were counting on a society that would respond to the rise of an autocrat with voluntary compliance, easy intimidation, and a lack of solidarity. One by one, those same schemers are artfully dismantling the checks and balances that give our democracy resilience. And, like a giddy card player quietly “shooting the moon,” they can almost taste victory.
But behold! Our nation is waking up. It’s late… but it’s not too late for a patriotic jolt of solidarity. Don’t forget: Every time our president is confronted by solidarity — from his flaccid attempt to steal Greenland to his failed silencing of late-night comedians — he ricochets off that and sets his sights on a more compliant target.
This Saturday, we have a powerful opportunity to speak together and sing in unison… in solidarity for our democracy. Thousands of rallies will gather millions of caring citizens as we, the people, stand up for what truly makes America great.
My hometown is having a huge rally, but I’ll be two thousand miles away, all dressed up to host my Symphonic Journey concert with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. But before I put on my fancy black suit and tie, I’ll be wearing my purple shirt — making the case that it’s time for all patriotic Americans, blue and red, to stand together for the sake of America — and hitting the streets to speak at a rally on the east side of Detroit.
It’s all hands on deck for America this Saturday: Raise your voice… be a part of history… and gain a story you can tell your grandchildren. Yes, you! Imagine saying that, once upon a time, back in 2026, America nearly lost its democracy to a twice-impeached felon and sexual abuser who, intoxicated with power and the approval of his billionaire friends, inflicted the classic dictators’ playbook on our society, and nearly won…but didn’t. “It was thanks to people power,” you might say, “And I was there, with thousands singing, chanting, and marching in unison for our nation on its 250th birthday.”
It’s solidarity… in the streets… for America… on March 28!
