Since we started Alfie’s Lake, we have actually only been able to share positive stories. This week has changed that. Nature is beyond our control.
Jon, Jason, and Dale arrived on Saturday. The night before they arrived, a tree fell down…was this a bad omen? Otherwise, good weather was forecast and there wasn't a cloud in the sky…but no one had anticipated tropical temperatures up to 38 degrees. As a result, the fish were completely uninterested and the lake was essentially at a standstill. Due to the high temperatures, the fish also started spawning for the third time.
On top of that, today one of our large commons floated to the surface, as she couldn't get rid of her eggs. Jon, Jason, and Dale massaged the fish all day to get the eggs out…but unfortunately, we just received the news that she didn't make it. Hopefully, many little ones will carry on this beautiful bloodline.
This week will remain etched in our memory, due to the unfortunate laws of nature, but also thanks to the help of the fishermen who had expected more from this week anyway... unfortunately, this is also part of fishing and running a fishing lake....
Thanks Jon, Jason, and Dale for all your efforts 🙏🙏🙏
