Hell’s Gate Geothermal Reserve was on our must see list early in our planning. We had a great Mud-bath followed by different thermal pools of various temperatures. We proceeded that by a walk around the reserve before the pools as well. Staff are super friendly and made the experience enjoyable.

I never wanted to start this informal series but here we are with a second installment of “trying medical systems around the world”. We bring you New Zealand.

I was able to try .nz which is Online Doctor Consultations in New Zealand. I got to speak to with a registered New Zealand doctor from the comfort of my hotel room. (I am not sponsored as I was also not sponsored in Thailand.)

Able to get help with some poison ivy that spread quite a bit.

Highly recommend if you are in NZ and unwell and it’s not an emergency. Great doctor and was able to get one steroid and a medicated topical cream for $15 NZD. The virtual visit came in at $79 NZD.

We have been fortunate with the weather, even on days where they call for rain, it has been much less or none at all.

That is the case for our visit to Putaruru Blue Spring.

A great walk with some stair climbing at the end but most of the trail is very accessible. Multi-sensory is every aspect.

Even in off season parking was full and on the road but people moved in and out quickly.

We made it to New Zealand. After a close call with our connecter in in San Francisco we had the smoothest 13+ hour flight to Auckland.
Managed 6 hours of sleep so that is a win.

In order to keep moving we set out on a coffee quest and found Aliiz - Eatery & Takeaway. Stop at New Zealand Warbirds Association to see WWI and WWII airplanes. Stop at The Cheese Barn at Matatoki on our way to East coast AirBNB which is on the Katikati Bird Gardens

UPDATE: Because travel involves challenges as well.
We boarded 15 minutes late which has turned into 2 hours of sitting on the plane. The crew timed out and we have to wait for a new crew plus rain and lightening.
We will have an hour now to meet our connection. Fingers crossed.

TwoCanucksAmok are off again. This will be our longest trip together. Happy to be on United Airlines again. Home of Lord of the Rings, Kiwi’s and stunning landscapes to name but a few things. One stop in SFO and then on to Auckland, New Zealand.

A glimpse of a few more days when we were in Iceland. One extra day in Húsavík, trip to our next Airbnb in Hvammstangi with stops at Forest Lagoon, KIDKA Wool Factory Shop, and Erpsstaðir Creamery.

The road trip continues to Húsavík. Self-proclaimed Whale Watching Capital of Iceland. Went on an amazing whale-watching tour with Gentle Giants Whale Watching. Had the greatest time and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Cannot recomend Gentle Giants enough. From the ticket people to the onboard staff to the captain. They were excellent.

Stop in the mountains at Vok Baths. This is our third thermal spa and the best one so far. Beautiful setting that has many pools and a chance to cold water plunge into the lake.
