Recognition of their 'outstanding universal value' commits authorities to work toward their preservation.
The Five Landing Beaches:
• Utah Beach: The westernmost American landing sector on the Cotentin Peninsula.
• Omaha Beach: The heavily defended American sector known for intense combat.
• Gold Beach: The British landing zone centered around Ver-sur-Mer and Arromanches.
• Juno Beach: The Canadian landing sector near Courseulles-sur-Mer.
• Sword Beach: The easternmost Anglo-French landing zone near Ouistreham.
And La Pointe du Hoc.

Some of you know me from "San Francisco by Gilles" — after years of guiding French-speaking visitors through San Francisco, I've relocated my focus to Paris and France.
I'm now operating as "gilles in France", offering private and shared guided tours in English and French for independent travelers, as well as continuing to work with hotel concierges and tour operators on tailored Paris itineraries.
