The Alpine Flying Centre school is closed for the rest of this year, reopening again spring 2026. Please keep an eye on our website for details.

Personal Pilot Progression and Development training/coaching will be available on a one-to-one basis or with small groups for already qualified pilots wanting continued training: refresher, introduction to the high mountains, or thermalling tution,

We are no longer a paragliding beginner school, our website has details on beginner training with local schools.

Updates and flying details from our area will still be posted and if pilots need weather or flying site details please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry for not being on-line since April. It has been a busy period. The spring and early summer weather and flying conditions were excellent, if not a little too hot at times, but with great flying.

We are now fully occupied/booked with courses, tuition/training and other stuff for the rest of this year.

Please don't enquire about courses or tuition for this year, as the answer will be. 'Sorry we are fully booked'.

We'll be open again in the winter 2025/26 and next spring and summer for training and coaching.

Playing with the Advance Theta ULS today, their lightweight, certified mid-B wing. It's a lot of fun, very responsive and with really good performance.
Spring is here, though its still chilly in the air.
The skiing in this region is pretty much finished and the flying now takes over.

Winter!! 18c and gentle ground handling conditions. The flying has been good too, light thermals..
The skiing is not too bad by all accounts, but it's busy on the slopes, being high season.

Winter continues and we have been getting regular snow falls that have been topping up the slopes nicely.
Every ten days or so good snow has been arriving, then we have beautiful sunny periods to enjoy the conditions before the next change. Quite a bonus over previous years.
Also we are in low season so the slopes and lifts during the week are generally quiet.
However that will change from February 8th when the main winter holidays start breaking our peace and quiet but boosting the valley businesses..
It's been quite windy in the upper valleys recently and flying has been difficult. All change next week as the flying conditions are looking good well into February. 🙂

The weather

Winter has at last arrived and the ski resorts and pistes are looking good. All the ski areas are open and the skiing is pretty good everywhere.

The flying for 2025 has started and its been pretty good, with light and gentle thermals.

Beautiful snow and skiing today

It's snowing here. This is shot from ours at 600m. All resorts are closed at the moment due to excessive snowfall and high avalanche risk.
Sunny and cold for a week from tomorrow, according to the forecast.

At last winter has arrived, the snow is falling and there is some skiing at La Flegere and Les Grands Montets.

Pretty much all the resorts here open on December 14th: next week - Yippee!

Lovely walk around our local lake today. 16c and strong Foehn wind bringing warm air up from the Sahara.

Winter is on our doorstep and in a few days we have gone from the lovely autumn colours to cold white mountains.
Not sure the winter down low here at 600m asl will last long, but above 1500m and in the ski resorts its looking good for an early season.
The flying is not over yet, but it's a bit chilly up there. Its time to bring out the ski gear!
