One of the highlights of the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme was the Albert Living History Village, organised by Musée Somme 1916 and Perrine, la Guide, on 4 and 5 July.
Over the course of these two days, set to the sound of bagpipes, no fewer than 𝟕,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 strolled through the aisles of the ‘village of remembrance’, meeting professionals from the remembrance tourism sector and 150 passionate re-enactors. Visitors were able to discover the daily lives of soldiers on the Somme front in 1916, as well as the memorial sites located near the town of Albert and the award-winning short film at a special screening.
👉 To sum up, it was a weekend of sharing, designed to keep the memory of the Battle of the Somme alive and pass on this history to future generations. 𝐀 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 also to all the participants, without whom this weekend would not have been possible.
See you soon, perhaps…? 😉
